It's Summer, finally. I have time to relax and just enjoy life. What do I do in that time? Play video games. Lots of them.

I came home from college and one of the first things I did was see which games I still haven't beaten, yet still have an urge to beat them.

I won't lie, the list was monumentally long. If you want to see it, it'll be in the spoiler tag below.

My question to you is Escapist is this: Am I the only one who has this habit of leaving amazing games that gave me a true sense of enjoyment left unfinished, only to collect dust and be runways for landing insects?

Games I'd like to beat between now and December:
Epic Mickey
Okami
Luigi's Mansion
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
Sin and Punishment: Star Successor
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario All-Stars
Metroid Prime Trilogy
God of War 3
Pikmin
No More Heroes 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Metroid: Other M
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Viewtiful Joe
Sly 2
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Sonic Colors
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Super Mario RPG
Tales of Vesperia
Batman Arkham Asylum
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Fable 3
Final Fantasy XIII
Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2 (I've played and beaten both games many times already. However, I lost my HDD when I bought a new Xbox, so I want to play both again and get the DLC for ME2)
Bulletstorm
Blinx The Time Sweeper
GOD HAND
Beyond Good and Evil
True Crime Streets of L.A (twas a gift....)
Chronicles of Riddick Escape From Butcher Bay (Also a gift)
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Bayonetta
Portal 2's co-op
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Fallout 3 (beaten the game, but not the dlc. Lost save so restarting)
Halo Reach (ON THE LAST LEVEL)
Final Fantasy XII
Shenmue II
Mirror's Edge
Banjo Nuts N' Bolts
Banjo Kazooie
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 10
Alan Wake
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Not too mention the games I'm buying this Summer such as:
Child of Eden
Deus Ex Human Revolution
L.A Noire
The Witcher 2 (if it releases on consoles)
Duke Nukem Forever

No your not alone buddy, I've played some amazing games, been like half way through, then pay day comes round again, so what do i do? of course i'm bored, in the mall, theres the game store there, what the hell its time for a new game. and then the amazing game gets pushed to the side for another game to be tryed out, and with my bad memory 90% of the time forgoten, till i realize, looking through my achivements, "I never really did finish *insert game name here* at which point i end up starting the game all over from the start again, which is whats happened to me now with Tales of Vesperia, i forgot about it, and now i gotta start over again.

My husband is notorious for not finishing games.
It's been happening to me more lately too. (I think it's contagious!) But I really plan to buckle down and finish some of my games, damn it! But...thanks to Steam and the fact that a lot of the games I like (and the types I like) are released almost always around the same time as each other, I have so many to play still. >_>

Edit: Or go on sale at the same time.**

I tend to finish the games I own myself. The games my brother has let me play though, they bring back bad memories of getting to the last boss in several games and then giving up, never to play the games again... I think the extra effort of asking permission to play the games and waiting for the opportunity to do so made playing the games too much effort when combined with the disappointment of failing the final bosses several times.

The worst one was Banjo Kazooie. I was literally one shot away from finishing the game, but I missed, was killed promptly and before I got around to playing it again, the save files disappeared and stopped working. :(

Never again.

Wow, I forgot about Tales of Vesperia so much that I forgot to put it on the 'Games I've forgotten about list."

I was at the end of that one when I was playing and being forced off the TV so my elder brother could watch Nascar or something just as stupid. So, in that mess of looking for a save point, I got just so sick of the game I never went back. Now, I have a new Xbox and need to start all over. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Exactly what happens to me. If I don't finish "new game 1" before "new game 2" comes out chances are the first game will be left half finished and the cycle continues.

This happened to me at a local game shop recently. I was intent on finishing Twilight Princess before buying any other game. However, I went to aforementioned game shop with a friend of mine who went to buy Magic cards.

Bored out of my mind waiting, I just browse around only to find Portal 2 and Bulletstorm both being sold for $20 each (and Portal 2 was new).

Resistance was futile.

I tend to get more games than I finish, I think it comes from being paranoid about having nothing to play, how ever with full time emplyment coming my way I wont have to worry

anyway next on my list is darksiders....

When I get a game I usually obliterate it as quickly as possible. Nothing stays uncompleted long on my computer, eg. Assasins Creed, completed the day I got it!

Okay, how many unfinished games do I still have easily accessible in my library? Well, only counting Steam and Wii games...

Half-Life 2 (stuck at electric fence in Ravenholm)
Fallout 3 (hardly done anything)
Hydrophobia (no idea how much I've done)
Super Meat Boy (Light World: Dr Fetus; Dark World: about 40 levels beaten)
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (Hyper, Level 10/Speed Enforcement, Level 8)

Twilight Princess (stuck at Lakebed, but still working on it)
Super Mario Galaxy (got 60 stars and can't find more, so I may as well go beat up Bowser next)
Okami (Agata Forest, haven't found Guardian Sapling yet)
Lego Pirates of the Caribbean (finished Black Pearl in Story mode, working with my sister on it)
Mario Kart Wii (50cc clear, 3 cups finished on 100cc)

So that's about 10 games I still need to finish, not counting stuff on my DS or that I have on my PC, but not Steam.
New resolution: Don't buy any more games until I finish those 10.

Also, games I'll probably NEVER beat:

Every single Touhou game I own (Normal or harder without continues)
Super Meat Boy (well, not 100%, but nobody can do that)
Fallout 3 (would take more time than I have spare)
The first two Harry Potter games (they're why I hate forced stealth)

I couldn't be bothered completing those annoying "push 100 beggars" & "assassinate 100 Imam's" quests.

Also something big also came out that weekend, I cant remember what it was but that was one of the reasons I smashed AC so quickly.

So to answer your question. No.

Don't blame ya, the sole reason i did, was a friend bet me $20 i couldn't cause in his words "alot of the OPTIONAL missions you need to complete are to hard"
