I have heard loads of people praise Team Fortress 2

but when i played it i found boring

the maps in my opinon were not good

the classes were over balanced

and all fun seems to be illusion

but thats my view

(it was the PS3 version if it makes a differenace)

so what did you think of TF 2 and why ?

The idea that people are having fun can be an illusion. I don't know how to put it any simpler than that.

Why did you come on to the thread, pick at one sentence, and not contribute? There's a better question.

You're not the only one. I find it shallow and boring, not too different from Quake 3.

I'm not interested in FPS. I'm also not interested in online gaming within any genre. Based in that you'd imagine TF2, being both, to be my idea of hell. Instead, it was a whole lot of fun and I have absolutely no idea why. I was predictably terrible at it - I don't play FPS because I suck at them and I suck at them because I don't play them, it's a vicious circle - but, instead of being frustrated at getting killed all the time, I found it all quite amusing.

My £0.02, for what it's worth.

Quake 3 = deathmatch.

TF2 = Teamplay, where high kill count =/= win.

WHAT?! How can something be overbalanced? Super balanced? That's good, it means that each class has as many strengths and weaknesses as the next one.

It seems as if you expected a deathmatch game. Because people that wanted a team-based FPS with a lot of tactics (because mindless shooting at people will never breach a good defene) got what the wanted (like myself) and are extremely satisfied.

92 average at Metacritics means something.

There's your problem.

possibly, although your complaints come from game elements and not gameplay (the PS3 ver. is loaded with bugs [so Ive heard]) so it is unlikeley that the PS3 or 360 or PC would really matter.

I don't know if PS3 has updates or not.

I'm sure 360 didn't get any of the updates so far.

edit: I'm talking about Pyro, Medic, Heavy and the latest Scout updates. They do get patches, I think.

I meant in terms of simplistic gameplay. The combat in TF2 is dull to me, much like Left 4 Dead.

Player limits on the PC version are, what, twice as big as console versions allow?
As far as i know the console versions don't get half as many patches or bug fixes and haven't got any updates yet. The action can get hectic during PC version play, but they never really kick off on the console version. I blame the controls, but that's a fanboy-baiting for another time.

I am contributing. I'm pointing out a particular sentence that doesn't make any sense to me, in an effort to get some clarification. See? If he means what you just said "The idea that people are having fun can be an illusion", then this makes a lot more sense. You and me just worked together to better this thread. Aren't you proud? I sure am.

I first tried it on the 360 and just didn't like it, but a little later they were having a sale on steam and I decided to try it agian on the PC(and liked it). I think the main problem is that the controls don't work as well as the mouse/keybord setup.
