I'm curious to know what you think is the politically correct term? I'm also from the UK, and I've never heard of it being un-PC.DSK- said:What is 'Black History Month'?
I'm pretty sure it isn't something we do in the UK because calling someone 'black' is, I believe, is deemed politically incorrect.
This. Slavery should no longer be an issue. Yes it was a terrible thing, yes the facts of it should still be taught. No, white people do not owe decedents of slaves any reparations. No they should not feel bad because of what their great-great-great-grandparents did. Those people living back then already paid a pretty hefty price during the Civil War. I'm not saying it balanced it all out but between that and the 100+ years of time elapsed, it shouldn't be an issue.CM156 said:I don't mind Black History month. What I do mind is some people telling me that I should feel sorry for slavery and that I as a white person bear some guilt. Half my family didn't even come over here until 1920, and the other half lived in the north. Furthermore, part of my family is Irish, and it's not as if THEY suffered anything ever in the states.
I love Morgan Freeman. Well said.Professor James said:

EDIT: (To add some sort of content to my post) I agree, Black History month is basically reverse racism. It, from what I've seen, does more harm than good.
And no, OP. You aren't alone. Morgan Freeman doesn't like it, either.
Now, I normally hate "/thread", but...Come on. It's Morgan fucking Freeman. [/thread]
Wow man, he was saying he didn't like black history month and you somehow managed to turn his words around and make him look like some sort of black supremacist. P.S. All supremacy is wrong white, black or asshole as you illustrated with your rude and ignorant post.SaintWaldo said:"Am I the only person who doesn't notice that, in the U.S., eleven months of the year contain nothing but White Person Days?"
That's what your question sounded like to me.
You should really read a LOT more before you try talking again. Just a little friendly advice.
Uh...Why'd you just quote me without adding anything?gmaverick019 said:*snip*

Why do you assume that eleven months are 'white person days'? What about Asians? Or Native Americans? Or any of the other ethic groups? Why are they 'white person months'?SaintWaldo said:"Am I the only person who doesn't notice that, in the U.S., eleven months of the year contain nothing but White Person Days?"
