Since the release of the 2008 Disney animated feature Bolt, (a preposterously underrated movie, I must say) I have had some kind of strange fixation with the white pooch from the movie.

A sort of affection that I think can only be described as love. Or at least some sort of emotional fixation as I find myself constantly thinking of him. I?ve had several girlfriends in my life, none of whom have ever been as interesting or attractive to me as Bolt.

Surely im not the first one to have a crush on a fictional character, but im 19 years old (and male for that matter).

I could mention a great many things that attracts me about Bolt. In fact I could make a list (and I have) of his many wonderful attributes, ranging from his deep, contrasty personality and his cute, wonderfully expressive mimics and beautiful face. And yet, he is a dog, a treat that is more of a virtue than a handicap in my eyes.

So, should I consult a doctor or a psychiatrist?

Not sure this pic is one of the best of him.
Here's some more pics.

PS: Im one 100 percent serious on this one. I am literally in love with this dog. Don?t worry about offending me, though. I want opinions!

No it's not normal and no you shouldn't waste a psychiatrists time with your ridiculous(no doubt made up) problem.

I think the only way your going to get anyone to listen to this one is to pay them $150/hour, while laying down on a comfy couch. See a doctor.

Literally in love with something that isn't real? Yea, that's not normal. I mean I really liked Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, but I wasn't "in love" with him.

If you love him... go to him let him know how you feel, you'll regret it for ever if you don't

Does it have negative consequences on your life, friendships, family, etc? If the answer is No, i say just wait it out and see. Never the less, i find it more of an intriguing problem that you chose a public forum for validation/ridicule of a personal problem. I guess ontop of all that youre also a masochist.

As long as it doesn't adversely affect your life in any way I see no problem with your fixation on Bolt, in fact it sounds to me like your obsession with Bolt has had a positive effect on you.

And yes, Bolt was a good movie. :)

Masochist? How on earth do you show signs of being a masochist? o_O

I would but Bolt does have this trivial handicap of being fictional, thus making my relationship abit one-sided ;)

I think you know the irrationality of your statements.

I also think you know what trolling is.
Oh really now. I have no problems with contumelies but i assure, you I am not trolling.

It sounds like you are trolling but if you're not I'm going to tell you I've seen far weirder shit but I still think you are not trolling you are an insane person and should go get a psychiatrist right away (note that this is coming from someone with no social life and is considered a freak by many).

Why thanks for your recommendations but im not actually considering a psychiatrist. I only added that last part to kinda imply that i have some sort of understanding of just how absurdly deviating my affection is.

I think you just like the character of the dog, his attributes etc. You don't actually "love" Bolt, instead his positive traits.
