There I was playing Halo 2 after years of not touching it. Upon doing some research on the game I found a speedrun that showed some of the coolest hidden features, glitches, etc. I have ever seen in a game. You get a plasma rifle that shoots bursts of what the Scarab shoots! AWESOME! You can bring a Banshee into the final boss room! AWESOME! You can bring a Spectre into the final boss room, forcing Johnson to board it which spawns another Johnson who boards too, and then another Johnson who boards as well and then just hammer Tartarus with multiple beam rifling Johnsons! OMG Bungie why are your intentional features and unintentional glitches so awesome?!?!?!

That brings me to all of you. What incredible discoveries have you made in games you have picked up after not touching for quite some time?

A few things in Fallout 3 & New Vegas. First, the brackets trick in hacking. That by selecting junk letters that are between brackets you can get rid of a wrong word or replenish your attempts. Sure changed hacking for me, still left and retried after I got three wrong though. Also it took me a while before I discovered you could hold down the use button to keep drinking water or that you could tip brahmin.

In my 100% completion playthrough of Dust: An Elysian Tale, I found an awesome hidden shout-out to Bastion. Basically, you go back to one of the early sidequest maps and find a room blocked by a gem wall, go through and you'll get an empty abyss. However, step off the abyss and the floor starts filling in under your feet, just like in Bastion. That takes you to another gem wall, then another, then another. Basically, you need to unlock every gem in the game to get through the whole course, which predictably leads to a cage with The Kid in it.

In retrospect, it's not that amazing or hard to find. I was just thrilled to find a homage to one of my favourite indie games tucked away in another of my favourite indie games that I'd never seen before.

For Psychonauts, finding the Campster (friendster clone) site on the Double Fine website. Fills in some gaps and casts many of the characters in a different light.
