Well, they aren't video-game songs, but Blind Guardian has an entire album based around The Silmarillion
I wasn't trying to discuss video game songs directly, in the first post I just mention that I enjoy songs based around games. And I've heard of Blind Guardian but never really listened to them.
Well then you're missing out. You might have heard their song in Sacred II, the guys in Unskippable said it sounded like Dragonforce for some reason....
I've not played Sacred II, but tell a lie, I have heard a song by Blind Guardian, The Bard's Song:
Although if I'm being honest, I prefer the version by Van Canto:

Good song, I was thinking more along the lines of this though

At the moment I've been listening to the Brazilian power metal band Aquaria, which is everything I could ever want in music.

There's also pretty much anything Arjen Lucassen has done is pure excellence.

Edit: damnit, I accidentally pressed post when I wasn't done. Anyway, more stuff.

Machinae Supremacy. Video game related music that uses the SID chip from the Commadore 64. Awesome.

Also, literally everything Devin Townsend has done is amazing.

And finally, nothing can beat the Bach cello suites.

Some love for Aphex Twin. Probably my favorite song from him and favorite piano piece ever.

Love me some Arctic Monkeys too. Not so much amazing but a song i'm really into at the moment.

Some DUBSTEP. Okay well it's Burial, nothing like these new young pups with their wub wubs. Give it a listen.

And believe it or not but I JUST learned of Mumford and Sons soooo

Some from my favorite band of all time, Counting Crows

And not for everyone but some headbanging DnB/Break style

But have yet to find a song that'll bring me to tears. Wish I had more emotionally driven stuff to offer but most of my emotional music is the counting crows cause they're sappy as fuck :p. JESUS edited this post 3 times fuehgljg

I LOVE stuff like this type of stuff, the music nearly always comes out awesome, and these 2 songs definitely are! I was going to put a song from a band similar to this but I can't remember the name of them =/

The only bands from that list I've heard of are arctic monkeys, who I've never listened to but I shall listen to the one you've posted, and Mumford and Sons. My favourite Mumford and Sons song has to be little lion man:
And when I said songs that bring you to tears, I didn't necessarily mean soppy songs, it happens for me just when the feeling behind the song gets to me. Maybe that's just me, I dont know xD

Well one of my recent favourites is the soundtrack to the game Xenoblade Chronciles. It got an awesome array of music types-
Ok I only posted two but you can find the rest of the soundtrack on that channel or Youtube.

Eh, I've taken a liking to electroswing. Too bad I find it hard as hell to find similar songs that I actually like. This particular sound is very hit and miss with me. But when it hits...

The Metal Gear Solid games have always had an amazing soundtrack IMO.

As for non game music, I like mellow, relaxed stuff, like Elliott Smith. Below is my all time favourite song.

Best song of the year, every year.

One day I might stop singing along with the chorus, but today is not that day!

The more... Hilarious version.

I think game soundtracks have taken over other forms of music for me... To me good music with good context behind the music makes it inheriently better than standard good music.

For example this wouldn't be half as good without the context behind it. Anyone who's played Persona 4 will understand i think.

I know this may come across as shameless, but I've created some music I would like to share around with people I think may enjoy it. This is my Soundcloud: http://soundcloud.com/motyr

The music I've produced is best described as being ambient electronic music. It takes some influence from Trip Hop, as well as artists such as Flying Lotus and Aphex Twin.

Study 1 comes before Appendix, and it the two tracks are very much meant to be connected thematically, sonically, etc. I hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment if you so desire!
