I listen to some of that stuff when I'm doing something mindless and tedious, or when I'm reading.

Amon Tobin is one of my favorites...

I love you I love you I love you I love you and that's one of his best songs. So creepy, chilled out and nostalgic at the same time.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, obviously.
Have that album on vinyl. Packaged gorgeously. Amazing album and it's not even their best.

I also have Robert Rich & Lustmord's collab, Stalker. Haunting album from possibly the two top dark ambient producers. Has these African/Middle Eastern vibes. I try not to look at my iPod so I can just lose myself in the music. I can't remember much specific about the album and I don't know what parts come up where but that means I can go back to it and let it entangle me over and over.

You've come to the right place, good sir.

I'm a pretty big fan of atmospheric/forest/ambient metal. :3
Have you tried Nadja? Seem right up your street.

I'd recommend Brian Eno , Robert Rich (particularly all 7 hours of Somnium), Biosphere, and Jóhann Jóhannsson (Virðulegu Forsetar is great). Well I see Brian Eno has already been mentioned but still and the people that said Agalloch are good men. Also the Skyrim atmospheres track from the CD is good as well.

EDIT: Damn, forgot to mention Harold Budd.

Ambient music is something I kinda specialize in, finally I can add something!

Probably themost uplifting song you will ever hear:

And I leave you with a Post-Rock album that you should all check out, one of my albums of the year! This song somehow is a tearjerker and uplifting at the same time...

I discovered him when I was listening to one of the many internet radio channels in iTunes, and I was overjoyed when I found out that he did a good portion of the music for inFamous.

This is another favorite of mine of his.

I love the song he did with Noisia.
Not really ambient (although it's got a certain atmosphere) but you've gotta love Dutch Brazilian dnb

Another fantastic track. Has that epic, rising feel.
I've gotta give his discography a thorough run through

I haven't heard that one that he did Noisia, so awesome and still has that mellow feel. Thank you for that! :D

You really should since his stuff is amazing, and you can also find some really great stuff like that when you have it going through Pandora.

Thanks again to everyone who has posted. I've got enough suggestions in this thread to last a good few months at least.

I'm surprised it took this long for Hammock to pop up, though. I actually looked them up of my own volition, they're really good.
[sub]Also, I think it's funny that you linked one of the Helios songs that I linked in my OP. :D[/sub]

I have to give a few of these lists the run-through still, but xplosive59, I notice that you didn't list Tycho anywhere. For shame! (Just joking.)

Oops, I didn't notice you had posted the Helios video, my browser hasn't been showing youtube videos on the Escapist recently for some odd reason. Those Tycho songs are pretty good as well, will check this guy out as it seems like good night driving music. Thanks for the recommendation :)
