I've been sort of inspired by the "Being proud of who you are" thread to create this topic about our ambitions and what we inspire to obtain in our lives.

So fellow Escapists, what are your ambitions? Or do you not have any?

I'l be the first to give mine... of which there aren't really any at the moment. I certainly aspire to have a family of my own when i'm older but I certainly don't have any specific career ambitions as of yet since i'm not sure what I really want to do.

A quiet, dignified life is one of them main things I desire to obtain. In fact, this paragraph from a good book I read recently sums me up.

"I've heard it said that I am a person who lacks ambition. In a way this is true, if by "ambition" you mean a desire to climb the career ladder or the staircase of status or whatever you want to call it. But my ambition, for example has been to live a quiet, dignified life, and I believe I have succeeded."

Obviously I haven't succeeded yet however.

That's one hell of an avatar you have there.

My ambition would be bringing my video game series stuck in my mind to life. And have good results in the reviews, obviously.

It would be awesome if people on this very site remembers me and say in a couple of years time: "Hey, remember that one person who was here in the forums? Her video game was awesome!" Or something along the lines of that. >.>

Damn right it is. The person who made it for me must be pretty cool.

That sounds similar to my girlfriend's ambition since she wants to be a very well known scientist. I hope it shall come true!

I want to live in a fairly sustainable & self-sufficient house in a quiet part of the UK, and work part time in a decent paying job. In my spare time I'd do a fair amount of exercise, and pursue writing and programming. Or maybe I'd just get high or have a bottle of wine, then watch a load of tv.

That sounds quite nice actually, something i'd definitely like to have. Apart from writing and programming however since I suck at those things. And I don't really get high either...

Join the Royal Marines, move to America, and pursue a writing career.

While the marines is undoubtedly the first I need to achieve on that list, I'm not picky as to the order of the latter two.

God forbid I live with an ordinary boring job. I'm doing that now, and it's aggravating.

Huh, a lot of aspiring writers here then.

I'd hate to be in the marines myself though and I don't really mind an ordinary life.

I'll remember you for posting in my thread and making a funny post.
I'll be able to say:
Hey, that I know that gal, we had contact over the internet.

My ambitions:
Becoming a doctor at age 24-25.

Well, unlike a lot of people here, I've made some headway as a writer. Nothing amazing, but it's a start.

I aspire to come into contact with others and form relationships. This may sound easy, but you have no idea how hard this is for me to accomplish.

I used to have aspirations of becoming a comicbook artist or work as a professional animator, but over the years this has made way for the desire for simple human contact.

I want to live a nice comfortable life with a family, resulting from making some games or films or what have you that are good and let me be remembered into the deep future.

That's my ambition.

Become a rockstar too bad I can't be arsed to learn the guitar or any other instrument. Another would be to stick at a hobby and get really good. I don't really have any ambitions I'm striving for I just want to have a decent paying job and a family and a massive tattoo of a tiger on my back.

You could write about your time in the marines, my brother might read that but he wants to be a para. Maybe Sean Bean will play you in a film someday based on a book you wrote.

No. Sean Bean played Andy McNab in the film Bravo, Two, Zero and Andy McNab is still alive.

Hooray for Eccleston's Doctor! :D

Anyways, there are a few things I want to accomplish but first and foremost is to make a career out of the Air Force. I hope to God that I can become an Officer, but if not I'd be perfectly happy as just enlisted.

Either save the world, or work as a columnist in New York City. Here my job only requires me to work maybe once or twice a month and isn't very difficult, but I somehow make enough money to afford a gorgeous, spacious, high rise apartment. I'm popular enough that I find multiple girlfriends with no difficulty, even when I'm going through a "slump". The most drama I'll ever have in my life is being dumped by someone I loved, but even if that happens I'll probably end up with her when all is said and done.

If I happen to lose my job, well it's no problem, because I've got enough money saved up to pay for rent while I find a new job

Go into space as a professional scientist, not a tourist. Or at least be apart of the engineering team that sends people into space. Designing ships and settlements sounds daunting but rewarding.

[small]And horrifying when they fail.[/small]

...

So you're saying I'm going to get killed? ¬_¬

Edit: I see I'm late to that joke.

Since your brother has sided with the paras, I'm afraid I'm going to have to fight him to the death and desecrate his corpse. Nothing personal, you understand, just tradition. :D

A very minor publication of a book I wrote converting local folklore into short stories.
