Ironically, I just bought an ATI card not one week ago. There goes the support for the brand. Hopefully, AMD will continue to support it with driver updates. I'm not much for video card alliances, the comparable nVidia card was twice as much, so the ATI card won.

I'm surprised it took this long. I'd been hearing that they were planning to do this for years. Especially after they started losing a lot of ground to Intel in the CPU market, and would have done well to remind people that, yes, they do make stuff that can compete in its field.

Well, then I have to avoid only one brand instead of two.
Nice.

I used to have/still have running quite different PC-Systems over the last 15 years.
The only ones who regularly gave me headaches are ones with ATI-hardware components.
The AMD processors aren't bad but I personally prefer Intel, and I never had any real problems with the Intel/nVidia combo.
