That's tough. But...
narcissistic probably.
I live here, and even amid all the people still saying "America is the greatest nation" (Newscasters say that all too often, or at least any time I turn on the TV.) it's still easy to see that capitalism is taking it's toll. Anyone making that claim is at best purely nationalistic.
I plan to leave when I'm old enough. To where? I'm not so sure.

Edit: Hubris does fit perfectly.

Insulted.

As any country would be if you attempted to reduce all of its complex culture and history into one ineffectual, condescending word.

It doesn't have to be condescending.

Extreme(ly rediculous in the political gap between left and right)
What exactly do you mean? America is a very centre-right (sometimes far right periods show up during red scares and stupid paranoia moments) country.

Our mainstream left is nonexistent. The Democratic Party is America's perception of liberals for God's sake.

Now over our history I see that the socialists and anarchists used to be these violent constantly bombing and fighting with robber barons guys. But even then, the right wing was still the mainstream wing. The only difference is that the left is basically nonexistent in any effective sense electoral-wise, but they do alot of activism. Centrists, conservatives and far right nutjobs are almost always elected. I guess Kucinich and Sanders are our exceptions for now.

How about stupid? I saw this video on the interwebz once, where a guy from a british network, or something similar, went around asking random Americans different questions. Hot damn, some of those answers were retarded. Couldn't tell if it was a spoof. Don't think so though.
