I found this disgusting and revolting. I don't get how these people can even call themselves christians without batting an eye. They need to seriously need to learn into walk in the shoes of others. Jesus christ. I had a family member who died of cancer recently and we spent 50 thousand USD on cancer treatment and that was WITH insurance. How do they expect people who make the average income to pay that?
And yet it's their leaders who created the mythology of the death panels. They are objectivists who do not understand objectivism. They worship Ayn Rand and the founding fathers, both of whom would hate them fiercely.

Only the idiots are idealistic enough to think they can affect change right now, at least in large numbers. Only the idiotic, the bigoted and, ironically enough, those cynical enough to cling to childhood ideologies so they won't have to face the big bad world.

I don't get it. Reading the article, the interviewers question sounded pretty unfair. Really though, if I still get taken care of without insurance, why have it? If the government is going to protect everyone like that, why not just make healthcare totally free?

I realize this isn't a very fair comparison, but I lived in Russia from 1995 to 2000. They had free healthcare. Once I went to the hospital with a friend who needed emergency treatment. They had an unusually high amount of fatalities that week, and the morgue was full. They had bodies literally laying in the hallway, covered with sheets.

This was St. Petersburg, one of the biggest and most westernized cities they had back then. Fair or not, I think of that whenever I hear about free health care.

P.S. we always went to the international hospital from then on.

Conversely in Taiwan (where my family is from) has a public system. It cost 200 dollars to get an MRI, physical, and medication and future advisory. It would cost thousands in the US. There is almost 0 wait (most medicine is distributed in small shops and one only goes to hospitals for emergencies and surgery) and the doctors are highly trained from both China and the US and the Taiwanese medical schools.

Ah, America. The only nation in the world where the economic success of multi-billion dollar corporations and the construction of war machines comes before the health of its citizens. NUMBER 1! NUMBER 1!

I don't mean to sound cynic, but man do some politicians here really have their priorities backwards. At least ol' Rick recognized that this was a bit fucked up, which really says something if you know anything about the affinity Texans have towards the death penalty.

Please believe me that the tea party are a bunch of psychotic ultra right wing bastards. Some of my friends who are republican are even more disgusted by them then my Democrat friends.

(yes I know who voted for who it makes it easier to either avoid political landmines or steer them into one)

The Tea Party disgusts me. They are a 100% fake grassroots movement paid for by the super-rich Koch brothers. And as such have been consistently manipulated into demonstrating and voting against their own interests.
I blame the fact that the media in this country has been thoroughly bought and paid for by special interest groups. It creates a situation where illogical ideas are given 'equal airtime' and lies are simply repeated over and over until they start to sound like the truth.
Though the general 'dumbing down' of the educational system in America for at least the last two decades also has a role to play. Citizens who do not understand basic economics, and are unable to think critically about what the talking heads on TV say; cannot make informed decisions about who should be running the country. [Assuming that the voting system isn't already completely rigged.] I think this is intentional.
Sheeple don't complain.
They don't even realize they're being lied too.
