We drink before 21. It just isn't legal.
This, pretty much.
I'm 19 and I think I've drunken just about every available liquor, legal or otherwise, in the states.

Americans don't really have a huge drinking culture like in Australia (where the age is 18) and Germany (wehere the purchase of alcohol is restricted to 16 or 18 depending on what you're buying, but you can actually drink alcohol at any age). Every time I am around Americans they always comment like all my Australian friends are a bunch of complete alcoholics. Of course, they are, but that's just how it is. Most people here over legal age drink to get drunk and make no bones about it. "Responsible" drinkers do exist but are a minority.

So I can understand how Americans can cope with waiting till 21 because drinking isn't so important over there. People in America still like to drink, but there definitely isn't the same "culture of drunkenness", that's for damn sure. If they lifted the drinking age in Australia from 18 to 21 though, I'm certain there would be rioting.
You've never been to America have you buddy?
If you have, you haven't gone to any regular parties. We drink just as much as anyone else, we're simply very good at hiding it.

Well, you know what they say, "You don't need to drink to have fun."
And of course it's true.
Not to insult you, Berethond, but this reminds me of a joke I'd like to share: "If you hear someone say this to you, punch that **** in the head because he thinks he's better than you: 'I don't need to drink to have a good time.' " - Jim Jeffries

P.S. : I don't drink. I already have a lot of pent up anger that doesn't need to be bolstered by alcohol. Rational thought is what keeps me in control and prevents me from hurting myself or others. That's how I feel anyway.
But you took out the rest of my quote about it being better to start fires with lighters instead of flint and steel.

True, but the rest of your comment was kind of off topic... unless you're suggesting we use a drunkards piss as lighter fluid. Also, It had nothing to do with the joke.

I simply didn't drink. But kids of almost any age can drink under the supervision of their parents in America.

Depending on where you are in America, say Wisconsin, if you are married and 18 years old, you can drink. I regularly take an alcohol awareness class, so I know this to be fact.
