MuundaneMatt, a YouTuber who makes videos on whatever the hell sounds interesting to him or other (basically a glorified video blogger) has made me aware of an idea he calls Amiibo cock fighting. As the name implies it's basically training up your Amiibo, and getting together with people to have them fight it out in whichever game they are playing (though right now I think only Smash and Kart have the ability to actually play with them). It's basically a glorified bot match, but it's a bit more personal since you actually go through the process of training them yourself, as well as customization.

Personally I like the idea, my brother and I already like to watch our Amiibos go at it in smash, add a halfway decent commentary and I'd watch it on Twitch every now and again. What do you guys think?

Yeeeesssss

This is it

The next big revolution in videagmaes

Would it only work with characters of the same rank though?
Cause otherwise everybody will simply resort to whomever is considered to be the strongest character in the metagame

I think it's a cool idea. The only question is why the developers of Pokemon haven't already done it. I'm sure they could come up with some kind of Pokeball Amiibo that springs open when you put it on the reader.

I think this could make an excellent Drinking game.

Five stock, every life lost, take a shot, take another shot if it's because of A.I. Stupidity (I actually don't know how intelligent these guys are, haven't used mine yet)

go best two outta three or something.

My brother lost to my Link Amiibo, needless to say I was very proud of it. He claims it was cheap, but I call it skill!

I may not think Amiibos are the coolest things Nintendo could come up with for new gameplay mechanics in their games, but I admit that training my own was a really neat neat experience. I can say for certainty that it uses strategies I actually use with Link. It's cool to see an AI take after you like that. I imagine this is what it must be like to have children, in a very weird way.

That being said, they aren't perfect. In one match I had with my level 50 Link, he fell to his own death a few times. However, they are definitely smarter than level 9 CPUs. I may go online and team up with my Amiibo if you can bring with you for online versus.

MY AVATAR IS BETTER THAN YOUR'S. THEY DANCE ************ WAHAHAHAHA :p

OT: This already seems reasonably popular on the smash subreddit, at least when it's not a huge circlejerk. I'd try it out if I had a WiiU and Amiibos, but I don't so I can't. To Youtube!

It is an awesome idea.
In fact, I think they were intended for this.

Ugh, Amiibos/Infinity/Skylanders are one of the despicable examples of Classism in the gaming industry. I mean, you seriously need a physical product for there to be software implementation within gameplay?

Don't think it is.
I tried to use my Amiibo when I played vs Jester online but couldn't summon my Fox McCloud :/

I like the idea. The Amiibo is a good CPU and evolving all the time.
Sounds like a great idea to me :)

Can't really comment on Infinity or Skylanders since I've never touched either, but Amiibos don't really unlock anything in the game (outside of the Link Amiibo for Hyrule Warriors), they're just a pet CPU that you can customize and train up to be better. You don't need to own a Mario Amiibo to play Mario in Smash or Kart.

that's probably something that will happen, Amiibos are going to get 3ds support
