only finished this yesterday and i enjoyed it loads...infact im gonna go ahead and buy all the penumbra games to see if theyre as good, if not its still more support for a very good indie company

its a game you have to want to enjoy to enjoy it tho, think about it too much and its just a simple formula, immerse yourself and have the ride of your life ;)

Good for them.
Always nice to hear a non-AAA studio having success.

Digital Distribution will probably not actually be able to challenge hard-copy distribution any time soon, but it seems more than able to help small studios get their games sold.

I think I'm never even gonna touch that game. Seriously, the things I've heard about how god-damn scary it is just freak me out. I've got a friend who really enjoys horror games, and even HE doesn't believe he would have the nerve to play it alone in the middle of the night with a lot of volume.

Seriously, and i freak out very, very easily. I don't want to crap my intestines out because of fear, dammit!

I was one of the ones who bought it on sale, in hope that eventually I do get a computer good enough to play it :D

I wonder if they'll get yet another sales bump now that Yahtzee's put the game in his Top 5 of 2010?

Great news anyway, and totally deserved. Amnesia managed to scare me more in the first ten minutes than any other game has managed at all, and yeah, one day I'll go back to it and maybe actually see a monster, when I work up the courage...

First it was Recettear now Amnesia! Steam really seems to move mountains. Especially with the sale and all.

It's not like they didn't get recognition with Penumbra.
I still have to play through that game (got the Collection). Have a gigantic backlog now, though, so it'll have to wait at least until after I finish Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.
If you haven't played Amnesia, or for that matter Penumbra. Do it. Those two games were what Call of Cthulhu was supposed to be.
Well, then I'd rather play them in rising order of success. I have both Penumbra and Amnesia purchased, anyway, so I can get to and through them at my own pace. :p

So far, though, I have to say that CoC:DCotE suffers from trial-and-error action sequences. Escaping from the hotel got really old when I had to constantly replay the whole sequence because I got some detail wrong.

Good. Although I don't really like being scared, I enjoy scary games because it actually takes some skill to make something really scary (Turning off the lights doesn't count, Doom 3)

Glad to see it work out for a small indy company... I want to play Amnesia, but the demo wont work unfortunately... Also, I'm not sure how well it could run on my Macbook... Probably not to well...
This is something I had trouble with as well. Turn off SSAO and you shouldn't have any problems, if you do, turn the resolution down, and fiddle with the settings. I LOVE this game not only because it's awesome to play, but because my machine can handle it with only a little lag in really huge areas.

It's awesome that Frictional are getting the response they deserve. I can't wait to see what other games they come out with!

I love it when good indie devs get what they deserve. Especially when they're Swedish, as I plan to be a Swedish indie dev myself one day.

It's always nice to see talented but struggling developers end up so successful.

Congratulations to Frictional Games. The games is a solid piece of work, and damn scary. The fact that they also put it on sale for 5? shows that they've got some balls. Wholly deserved!
