Like I hope others did, Amnesia was only 4$ on Halloween night and I snatched it straight up. Totally worth it and the best horror game I have ever played. Loving it so far, story, atmosphere, and the Soundtrack. I put a few songs on my ipod so those late night shifts and rides home are a tad more.....atmospheric. So any tips I can get or custom stories you guys could recommend? Basically an Amnesia General!

The only tip I can give is if you're looking to get the "best" ending: Remember that it's an adventure game, and as such subscribes to typical adventure-game-logic which means for some of the unnecessary extra stuff you can do you'll have to try bashing all of the items in your inventory together until something sticks, and then find where to use it. Most of it actually is fairly logical, but simply things that you will miss if you're not paying close attention to the areas you visit and the items you do/can pick up.

Also, this might be considered a tad spoilerish but unless you've already spoiled it for yourself you won't know what I'm talking about until you get there: Do not light any candles or use your lantern at all in the Choir.

I can run it at a decent level. They have said recently they want to do a console game, but it wont be as scary. You should try their other game "Pnuembra" on STEAM. Basically the same gameplay and plenty scary, just at a lower quality graphics wise.

I just finished it the other day and really enjoyed it. I was hoping for a little more in the endings, though then again, I'm also surprised it actually has happy ending for a Lovecraft game.

Then again, on reflection, I'm suprised nobody has actually died of a heart attack while playing this game, giving the game a lot of unintentional publicity in the process.

No lights at all? I just got the elevator back up and running and finished the second hub world. I know that doesnt seem very far but my nerves get the best of me at times so I slow down to uh, "Savor the moment". Sure, lets go with that.

anyone other than me got through WITHOUT getting scared?
Yep I did, there are plenty of things that don't scare me, but I enjoy the theme of horror so much more, which kinda makes it enjoyable in a different way :D

It's not a terribly long game. And don't worry, I wasn't even playing it alone (I got my best friend to play it on his laptop at the same time I was playing it on mine) and we still only played the game in short intervals. Hyping up the atmosphere even more by playing in the middle of the night with all of the lights off and the sound ramped up does wonders.

And I don't particularly want to say any more about the "spoiler-y" bit, because while it's not exactly going to spoil the story or anything, the Choir is easily one of the best maps in the entire game as far as atmosphere goes. Just know that there's a valid reason I warn you about using lights in there.

Ha!

It's not. I'd say about six hours. Yet, I got a couple of months out of Amnesia because I could only play for fifteen minutes at a time. It was one of the most unforgettable experiences I've ever had and yet I doubt I'll go back to play it again.

I got Amnesia at the Halloween sale as well and I am loving it too. I only got a chance to play it this afternoon and I'm only when you run like hell away from the thing in the water that splashes it's way at you (excellent description, I know). This game almost feels physically draining, I wanted to keep going, but could not bring myself to do it, I'm almost exhausted from playing it. It's a lot of fun and scary, but I think I need to play it in short bursts rather than long runs like I'm used to.

This is actually the only game I can think of that legitimately scares me. I'm not big on horror games, I never played any Silent Hill, but I have played most of the Resident Evil games (surprisingly not RE4... dunno how that turned out) along with BioShock and Dead Space 2, plus a few others. None of them were at all scary, I mean, hell, I've jumped more at MineCraft than any of those, but Amnesia makes me run whenever it pseudo-takes-control and points me at something happening. That's probably cause my mouse is crap and randomly moves sometimes, so I don't know if the game is doing it intentionally or if my mouse is just spazing out. Because of that, I don't know if someone's actually coming or if my mouse is just screwing with me.

All in all, I'm having a lot of fun with this, just wish I had more time to play it right now. And that I could actually get through it without screaming like a little girl.
