Oh Yeah! I remember when the D&D creator or someone died, one of the newspapers printed a story saying that he had "Failed a saving throw Vs a Heart Attack".
There's also Corporal Jones from Dad's Army who sometimes referred to people going to "That great parade ground up in the sky."
I also remember a scene from Scrubs where JD is advising an intern about talking to a terminally ill patient.
"Yeah, I'm gonna need you to go back in there and use some form of the word 'die'. 'Dead'; 'deadwood'; 'deadsies'."
"Gone to Davy Jones' locker" is also a good one, at least before Pirates of the Caribbean.
I also can't fail to mention "Pwned by a n00b", which may yet catch on in RL.
