Spam Phishing is the commonly known act of someone sending out floods of very obvious scams through mass email in the hopes that a small percentage will be stupid enough to take the bait. I'm sure most of us has gotten a few of these in our times on the internet.

But have you ever received such a blantantly obvious attempt at someone trying to scam you that it was actually rather funny and pathetic? Or similarly, ever seen a website attempting to do something similar?

I recently got a spam email sent to me with some Phisher telling me some story about loosing his family in a third world country and inheriting 13 million dollars or something. (Trying to pull on my heart-strings eh?) And then concluded by saying he wanted me to invest a large sum to bring him over here and share that fortune with me. What made it amusing is when he said he had only shared this information with me and only me. Which might have been flattering if in the Cc section at the top I could see he'd mass emailed it to dozens of other people.

So share your stories, ever seen any amusingly pathetic Phishing?

I have lost count of the number of British, Dutch, Finnish, and German lotteries I've won. Funny thing is I never bought a ticket.

Careful, the Nigerian government might get upset at this and demand a written apology from you.

Once got the usual spiel. The funny part was when he added "don't call me, because I'm deaf"

The ones which tell me there is some lady somewhere who is hot for my balls.
Aside from the fact that I'm supposed to be okay with the idea of a complete stranger stalking me long enough to know my email address, it implies that anyone anywhere would ever find me attractive.
Which, if you've ever seen me, is completely hilarious.

No that really is the Irish lottery, the only lottery in the world where it costs you money to win... (badum-tish)

Met a nice banner once, before I got the AdBlocker.

It said I was the millionth visitor to their site and had won some kind of gift certificate worth of ten thousand euros. it also had a link to a site, supposedly to give my personal information to 'deliver the gift certificate'.

Standard banner in other words, with one exception.

I saw a tiny line at the bottom of the banner, obviously a coding error of some kind. It read 'BannerShownCount=' and a number in the billions :)

I once got an email from someone's who's email address was exactly the same as mine and the subject was "I'm in hospital." Why the hell would I email myself saying that!? A few days later I got another one from the same address and the subject was "open it, you jew!"

Well, i'm fairly certain a few people on newgrounds have been setting up links in their posts that go to phishing sites...

the posts are usually titled, "Newgrounds to be shut down by the government!" or something of that ilk... and then in the post, they go on to describe how some moderators account got hacked, and dirty photos were placed on the front page, and then they provide links that supposedly go to said moderators hacked page, but are really links to phishing sites.

Quite clever really, it probably got a quite a few gullible little tweens.

Used to get a lot of 'see this celebrity naked' emails usually with misspelled names (Brittnay Speers) Never opened one. Or of course to add inches on to various body parts.

Another good one that lots of people for for (if my friends working at paypal are to be believed) is people well get emails from paypay.com asking for their paypal passwords. The document itself obviously has the paypal logo and such all over it.

everyone gets the same types of SPAM, so here is a little story that happened to me.

I was trying to buy a car, and i found one on craigslist. I had a few back and forth emails with the guy, requesting pics, info, all the normal stuff. He was always taking a while to get back to me, and was always pretty vague. The dealbreaker, (that got me to literally laugh out loud) was when i asked for his phone number, since things were taking too long and it'd obviously make things MUCH easier. He gave me a phone number, but told me not to call him cuz he was Deaf. Needless to say, I went and found tons of random newsletters (including many porno ones), and just signed his email up for every one i found. I also reported him and wished prison-rape upon him. haha
