"They"? Jesus fuck are they a collaboration of minds working in unison to make a single body work? Must be why he/she/it is such an asshole
Ever heard of headmates? As in "roommates" but in your head? I'm currently sharing my headspace with Jesus, Anita Sarkeesian, Antares of the Scorpius cluster and a Machamp. And Anita keeps complaining about Machamp's toxic masculinity.
This made me laugh so much I had to post just to thank you. X-D

As for the OP...yeah looks like someone just being generally horrible. Its VERY much the kind of thing I see tumblr denizens tweeting about (in fact I unfollowed someone earlier who was yelling about that exact thing over their timeline).

Not to be rude or anything, but I'd be pretty sad if someone addressed me as they because they knew I was transgendered. :/ I'm totally fine with "she", since that's still my official + physical sex, and "he" is a no-brainer -as a FtM trans- but calling me "they" or perhaps especially "zie" (or whatever it is) would be sort of... well, it'd make me a bit sad. Especially if it's directly to me, just go "you" if nothing else.
Oh of course, I was specifically referring to scenarios where the person in question isn't available to clarify (and besides, if you were talking directly to someone you'd use "you" and their name anyway). Surely "they" would be more respectful than misgendering them.

Assholes will be assholes, regardless of orientation and self identity.

That person just had a chip on their shoulder. Regardless of any prior issues they've had in life, they have no right or justification for acting like that to someone they just met. How are you supposed to know? Especially if they were one of those people who were BIOLOGICALLY a man but self identified as female. You can call yourself female all you want, but if your goods are male then you're a male. I'm all for freedom of choice on the matter, but don't be a jerk about it.

If you look male, people will think you're male. If you look female, people will think you're female. Who'd have thought?

Yea, I've always been taught if it has a penis then assume it is a male and straight unless told otherwise.

Given that you'd be correct in that assumption the vast majority of the time, people who fall into the very small percent need to understand that their appearance is not always an obvious indicator of who they are biologically or how they identify. Such a weird reaction, but I think you were totally fine and not at all out of line there.

Seriously, who the fuck do you think you are, being polite, respectful, and accepting of their gender identity(they??? are they a analgamous spirit from the netherworld seeking vengeance for their father's murder?) even while they were being an asshole!

Fuck that they(still confused on that). You were not in the wrong.

Ugh. I know we don't really have a good gender neutral term, but referring to someone as "it" or "they" just seems... so demeaning. I don't know how trans-gender people feel about the terminology, I just assumed that they wanted to be referred to as one or the other, but those terms seem somewhat dehumanizing.

Well, obnoxious assholism is an equal-opportunity affliction. Some people are jerks, even the people you're trying to help.
