I've only ever played Soul Calibur II (with the weird, intentional spelling mistake), and I still have painful memories of being murdered by button-bashing Raphaels...

Good review though, very long but I guess it has to be to be 'in depth'.

ok more news from the TOS

just..don't even try and play it

around 30-50 is just...impossible, you have to be an ai to beat it.

the characters attack and move with inhuman skill, they counter every attack, and over all just take all the fun away from it.

PLUS getting the 30 achievements for the last set of armor pieces is a hell hole if you don't have online.

if you do then easy peasy, but without it you have to do shit like hit people 10,000 times or block 1000 hits or insane shit like that.

its aggravating, pointless and I swear to god I bet the last stuff is shit just to piss everyone off.

Great review. Who cares if it's long? It's detailed, and that is more important. Reviews are better suited to tell people about the game's pros and cons in detail than they are to say "I (don't) like it". Even if the review is long, it can help make decisions about whether to get the game or not. The more informative, the better.

I'm really sorry if I'm offending any of you Xbox owners, but am I the only one who thought it looked like Namco had slapped you guys in the face?

"Ok, Sony - you get one of the greatest screen villains of all time, and almost certainly the most powerful. Microsft - you get a Muppet with dyslexia."
There's videos up on youtube of Darth Vader fighting against Yoda, so it's fairly likely that the unavailable characters are going to be released as DLC. Which is nice, since I'm not particularly keen on playing as a midget in a dressing gown.

Given how much Namco love DLC (and love to charge for it, See Ace Combat 6), it would be very surprising if they didn't release the other characters as DLC.

The fluffy attempts at plot can be interesting... If you're deaf to the cheesy dialogue.
And as ridiculous as the female proportions are, who's complaining?

A couple phallacies with your review.
There IS an arcade mode, you use it to unlock Vader's apprentice, and you CAN'T edit the physique of base characters, IE: No, Ivy's Jubblies will not get bigger, beleive me, I've tried to break her back. (If it's there, please give me a map, because it won't let me :p.)
Also, your review, whle long, bounced too much. The flow fealt more like a roller coaster, or atleast The Dark Knight. When at the point that you think it's going to be over, it practically starts over again.
Mmm. But arcade is no longer the main selling point of the single player experience. In the previous games Arcade mode and story mode were interchangeable. Not so here.

As for Ivy's love pillows. Just make a custom character with the same features, equip the same items, call her Ivy and ramp up the tittage.

Edit: Also the dark knight was awesome and thus, by comparison my review is awesome. Thank you.

"A roller coaster ride" says Necroswanson.

AHA! See, that's cheating though :p.

And I do agree, in previous titles the story and arcade were alwys put together. I actually like the way they've seperate it. 5 short stages for a shitty cinematic that doesn't really tell you anything. Arcade mode needs to be just what it is, a crappy getting your ass kicked by AI fest with no intuitive story in it.
Debatable. I would prefer a straight up fight against regular AI opponents. Maybe not 10 characters but certainly not t he 4 on 1 clusterfucks the story mode turns into.

What!?! I thought Ivy was overstacked to begin with in this incarnation. She was the right size in original IMO.

good review, I'm still debating on wether or not I should get this though, as I've had bad experiences with fighting games (Damn you brawl!)

It's the polar opposite of Brawl.

That doesn't mean it won't wail on my ass just as much as brawl did. But it still seems interesting, and I'm willing to give it a shot.
