An MMO with early group based content?

I'm an avid gamer who has played every (not exaggerating) major/successful MMO that has touched the shores of the US. While I am easily lost in the digital worlds, I have a hard time keeping my attention-span-lacking friends as enticed as I am. We all share interests in MMOs and have played WoW and such for a combined 26 years between the 5 of us. Does anyone have any suggestions for a successful MMO that we could all play and do group content from early game (say dungeons or group quests/pvp)?

I'm unclear as to what exactly you're looking for.

Just a new MMO? Surely as an avid fan of the genre you're aware of all your options already?

Guild Wars 2 seems like it is going to have lots and lots of group content.

You're right in that i should have been more clear in what i was asking. i am looking for a new MMO or for an MMO to revisit that has strong low level content like dungeons and pvp. while i realize that this isn't the most practical thing to look for and that most of that kind of content is reserved for people who spend more time in the games (as they should be really) but i just want a game where i don't have to level my character AND my friend's in order for everyone to have fun

I love Guild wars i still play it occasionally, it was my first real MMO but it's not the most popular game pve wise which is a big thing for me although the quest line and missions are briliiant. I am contemplating giving G2 a chance so hopefully my friends will do the same

SWTOR actually moves against the current with lots of optional low-level group content. It could be a decent game for a tight group of friends.

DDO might be another option.

I'm not very familiar with MMOs, but all DDO content is groupable content. You can solo it, but it's kinda tough and pretty boring. I love playing it with friends though.

Try Spiral Knights. It's free to play, but handles itself fairly well. You want dungeons and PvP? We've got nothing but dungeons and PvP, son.

Seriously, give it a try. It's basically what would happen if Four Swords Adventures were played on a Gamecube of gargantuan proportions.

City of Heroes. You start out immediately with low level group quests. The entire game is geared toward teaming. It also has the greatest personalization options of any game out there. No two characters look alike unless the players planned it that way.

It just became free to play a few months ago so go try it out.

Well there's an MMO that just went into its Closed Beta stage called Tera.

It's made by BlueHole Studios and it has a sort of governmental approach to its community.

Age of Conan has group-dungeons starting right after the newbie zone, IIRC (though things may have changed since I stopped playing last march, and then they went F2P, so YYMV).

I would be inclined to say SWTOR. You can group from the very begining, Start sharing quests out the gate, you start getting your heroic quests around level 5 or so and it honestly just evolves and improves from there. Even if the game can be soloed from 1-50 (so can WoW and many others) its simply the interplay of how story elements work with a full group that makes it quite intriguing and how you can in essence get a completely different story experience if you have a very diverse group of team mates. Nothing quite like having the story of shared quest lines (which about 80% of the quests the entire group can participate in and another 15% you for class quests your group mates can "spectate" on the story options. About the only thing that you have trouble allowing spectating on is things that require you to access holoterminals but that is likely a glitch that will eventual be repaired.

Granted.. the content of the quests might be easy with a group, but in my personal estimation the group story dynamic MORE than makes up for zerging on group content.

Yep, the only problem is the group size is limited to 4 players, so if there are consistently 5 of you you'll be in a spot of trouble. It's great as a co-op game, I just didn't have enough friends playing to stick around.

This
After a few days since I discovered it and watching video's on youtube it seems it will be a very co-op based MMO, as you can start a group being any class you like.
It also looks pretty amazing for an MMO, i'm definitely getting it when it comes out.

Every MMO has "group content" in the sense that most things you can do on your own, you can do with a group, especially the really cheap feeling dime a dozen F2P MMOs. You can play through all the way to the max level in a group, might not be much though.

EVE Online

Two hours (it'll take you longer to actually learn how to play, so don't worry about downtime) and you can be useful in PVP. Which is group based, unless you are highly specialized or want to lose.
Too bad it is boring as hell though. ^^
Boring as hell depends on the point of view. ;-) But probably not the optimal choice for friends that lack attention span.

I don't lack in attention span at all. I actually love games with lots of grind. But Eve, for me, was boring as all hell. Most MMOs try to hide that you're playing a spread sheet dressed up as a video game but Eve puts it proudly on display. I couldn't get into it at all.

Dungeons and dragons online is a good one , you can start group questing from go , and it's free to play.

Also mabinogi , is a game me and my friends used to play together online , pretty fun , but time consuming , also free to play.
