Okay now this has been running through my head for a while now and I havent been able to think of any Alien or "other worldly being" that doesn't have any ties with somehting on earth.

Every Alien or whatever you will call them in Sci-fi, movies, games all have been ideas that came from things on earth, plants, blobs, Humanoids, Re-cycling bins, (thinking of Daleks there) and that I haven't seen one "original" Alien and I wondered if anyone on here has or knows of one or just what they think in general.

Well as it stands if there is alien life out there it's not going to be something a human being can think of. It'll be something so vastly different and unique it'd be impossible to imagine. It'd be /alien/. So as it stands I don't think it's possible to come up with one that is "original" as you put it. Merely because a human being will be creating it. Though I have to say the ones HR Giger came up with are fairly unique.

If there is life on others planets, they will look like something from Earth. You can make an alien that's made out of poo and has no ayes, but that's just impossible.
Star Wars has pretty original Aliens (but their bodies are like humans, probably because it would take more time to make a full alien costume).

I think the wrong end of the stick has been grabbed here... not sure if its the right stick either.

And, oh, my, god, I so hope you are being ironic with that ub3rl337 b0110x there.

The Leviathans from Farscape are pretty original, name me a single living spaceship or similar creature that you can find on earth.
And Metroids too. Name me a life-energy draining, clawed floating thing.
Then there's the sentient shade of blue mentioned in The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Thing is, they look remarkably like jelly-fish...with claws.

It is difficult to convey irony through plain text.

Tyranids from 40k? They may be sorta inspired by a strange hybrid of Lizard and Insect... but... have you SEEN some of the newer stuff they have, like the Venomthrope, here, I'll post a link:-

This is pretty much the smartest answer you'll ever get, cause it ánswers the question perfectly

The most original aliens I know of are from the original War of the Worlds book. Well they kinda look like a giant octapus but machines that bleed are pretty original.

It's impossible, humans' imaginations are all slightly based on things surrounding them, no matter how remote.
