I personally agree with George Washington's belief that governments are a neccessary evil. It's why I'm a small government right-winger (wanting less government restrictions and believing the populace shouldn't be dependant on the state apparently makes me a fascist). There needs to be some force for peace and order, and to me that's the police and military, the Anarchist's worst enemies. There are going to be criminals and ne'er do wells, and most people want justice but don't want to take it into their own hands. Enter the police. Eventually, some ideologues or some other "tribe" is going to become a problem for your people. Enter, the military. The idea that people are going to just chain themselves peacefully when given the choice seems incredibly naive to me.

I don't believe anarchy would work because after eliminating government and new societies emerge, those societies will inevitably clash, conquer, and so on to become no better than the way things are now.

We also act irrationally under pressure, or when startled.
Or when we are in love, hungry, sleepy, having an off day.

Rejoice, for I have finally returned from my vacation. Now on to the subject at hand. Anarchy. I just don't get it. Humans are naturally ordered beings, why would any of them promote chaos? Humans have always created order and laws and governments to enforce this; so why would anyone support absolute chaos? I can easily understand the rejection of specific governments, but the rejection of all governments in any form is illogical. I just don't understand it. Thoughts?
Anarchy is not chaos. Anarchy doesn't mean "no laws" but "no leaders." It's a form of democracy or democratic comminism where everyone is on the senate & absolutely everything is voted on.

Anarchy apparently worked in Ireland for a thousand years, people all agreed to some set of rules, lived their lives and clans were made and fell.

Modern governments just seem like anarchy with paperwork on top to me, so, I don't really get the point.

You've made two assumptions that aren't even true to first order: 1) Humans are naturally ordered beings 2) Humans have always created order and laws and governments.

The strictest definition of anarchy is that of small government. In my mind, it is closest to true democracy. The so-called democracy in the U.S.A., for instance, is more accurately termed: Republic.
No one's denying what kind of government we have. Well actually some people think it's a communist or fascist one, but "democratic republic" is what's listed in the freaking CIA factbook. It was meant to be a small government by the original founding fathers, but it's constantly been growing since the days of FDR.
On Topic: While I agree that humans aren't naturally ordered, I also agree with the OP's assumption about there always being some kind of government. People will always try to lead each other, which is why anarchy will never truly work.

My idea is that anarchy is more of a lifestyle choice for the kind of people who don't like following orders and wish they could do what they want, and in theory doesn't have to do with the government. The conflict come when government/tradition/religion etc get in the way of this idea of radical individualism and freedom. In a sense anarchy comes from too much freedom or the desire for more freedom, and if anarchy ruled the world would be in constant war with itself because everybody wants different things and get in the way of each other, and without laws they'd fight. That's what laws from the government and otherwise are for. And since true laws came after the development of civilization and have grown at the same rate as civilization etc etc, the more complex things become the greater the governing forces/anarchy becomes.

Another way to look at chaos/anarchy comes from an mmorpg I play where chaos is the third party against both good and evil, which if you think about past the oversimplified way that mmorpg puts it, chaos is a rejection of absolute moral law, where one does everything on a whim and is all helter skelter, coming close to insanity.

Usually the anarchy supporters of the world are angsty teenagers who hate being lead or are bitter from a childhood of being catholic (no offense but my parents and other people in their generation tell me stories about how miserable their lives were when they had to go to catholic schools etc and also i'm just a raging protestant. My apologies to any catholics reading this please don't take it personally.) and want to fight back against the system and are really just a bunch of posers. It's all angst I tell you, angst!!!

My friends and I have a plan of what to do in a situation of complete anarchy. Oddly enough, it involves order. It won't get things back on track, but damned if it won't keep us alive.

Anarchy cannot last, so the idea of somebody supporting such a cause without an ulterior motive, such as taking power, is ridiculous. Just look at the recent events in Kyrgyzstan for example.

Again, Anarchy is not just chaos. A more in depth answer is: it is theoretically a better option when you closely examine the government systems currently in existence
Edit: Oh I see what you meant. So what kind of option is it then?

I think the idea is that people would, after copious amounts of chaos, form a sort of order all their own. However, considering the human race's track record when it comes to managing itself unsupervised, I don't really know if this can be considered advisable.

Anarchy is not chaos.. and with the right people it can work better than any government could. Of course, humans are naturally greedy and lazy so it would never work well in real life

Riots and Anarchy in many parts of the country due to the high corruption rates and ethnic differences. Every group seemingly had specific persons with highlighted importance, their 'leaders' so to speak. It was suppressed by the government.

Insovietrussia Anarchy chooses you!
Wait...

Ok. Anarchy is a nice concept and all, just like communism, but the thing is, it builds on the common decency of people to pull it all off. Which really doesn't fucking work.
And how the fuck can you have organization (because Anarchy basically means there are no leaders, not that there is no organization) without a fucking leader? It makes no sense!
Edit: well, maybe if humans had some sort of hive mind. But they don't.
Thank God.

Well see, the general philosophy behind anarchy is that The Man is evil. Clearly the reason you don't believe in anarchy is because you don't follow that philosophy. This leads me to believe you are The Man.

With that in mind, I DON'T NEED YOU OR YOUR STUPID GOVERNMENTS! DOWN WITH YOU!
