Article in question quoted below.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Two Canadians died instantly in a freak accident when a car hit a 440-pound (200-kg) black bear and sent the animal flying straight through the windshield of an oncoming vehicle, local media said on Wednesday.

The bear's body hit the 25-year-old driver and a 40-year-old man sitting behind her and then shot out of the back window. The bear also died.

The accident happened on Monday night in a rural area about 25 miles (40 km) north of the federal capital Ottawa.

"We don't see (this) often, even if we live in the country. Lots of deer, but collisions with a bear and two people died? That's really rare," local police spokesman Martin Fournel told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

Collisions between vehicles and animals are common in Canada, which has a healthy population of large wild animals such as moose and deer.

Canada ... is very big.

Something like this was bound to happen sooner or later.

Um... ok?
I don't see how this sums up my country, even if it involves a bear.
Not sure if trying to troll, or just stupid.
Either way, you fail at both.

No, it would have summed up our country if it had been a moose.

Or a giant beaver.

Flying bear kills two Canadians <-----If I saw that as a headline on the local post, I would have bought it and vacuum sealed it to show my kids one day.

I don't get it.

They hit an animal.

In Sweden we have a car accidents with wildlife as well. Why is this "in a nutshell"?

How does the death of two people and a bear in an auto accident sum up all of Canada? I hope you realize that there are people, cars and black bears in other nations as well.

How is this only a Canadian thing? Other parts of the world have animals too you know...
Because only in Canada would 2 people be killed by a roadkill bear.

Oh ya .. thats definately Canadian luck in action. How fast was the origional car going to throw the bear like that, and what was it, a rig? A 440lb bear would tear through whatever little import car hit it.

I like Canada. Seems like a lovely place (not joking). They've got LRR(right?) and Mass Effect (right???). I'm really not sure about that stuff, but still, i like Canada. Something about it is cool.
And these freak accidents happen, i suppose.

Hmm...I came off as a bit of an ass in my other post. Let me clarify what I meant.

Canada is an unusual and foreign place with a surprisingly different culture from the USA, despite it being so close. Only something so unusual as 2 people being killed by roadkill would happen in an unusually foreign place with hilarious stereotypes.

Think you misread, they killed the bear, it wasn't already dead.

Earlier today I watched a video with Geddy Lee going sledding and I was certain that that video had basically summed up Canada better than just about anything else.

OT: That is strange, and it is sad that people died. The article sort of makes it seem like the bear rocketed through the windshield, which adds to the strangeness of it.

So Canadians hit bears with cars? I think Stephen Colbert has found himself an ally.

The bear they killed killed them. Is the bear not roadkill?
