And thus Batman's descent into Grimdark Edgelord-ness is complete.

Yeah, this is nothing surprising or all that detached from the usual alt-universe fanfare. I'd only really hate this if mainstream Batman suddenly decided Punisher was cool. They can make all the Dark Age throwbacks they want.
While an interesting concept wasn't the Dark Age of Comics already mocked in the late 90s/early 2000s? There is really much ground to cover other than, most Dark Age comics suck.

Eh, nothing new to see here. Maybe a bit of "haven't they learnt not to do this yet?".

Annnd moving on because this is now business as usual. Or do I need to remind everyone about Superboy Prime, Owlman (Really, all the villains in Crisis on Two Earths), the Justice Lords, Superman in Injustice, Hydra Supreme?

Actually, digging a little deeper, it looks like there's really nothing to see here. This is just another one of the evil Dark Knights from Dark Nights: Metal. You know, that series where the villains were all evil composite characters of Batman? Batman/Joker, Batman/Aquaman, Batman/Doomsday, Batman/Flash, Batman/Cyborg, Batman/Wonder Woman, Batman/Green Lantern? Yeah, the Grim Knight is another one of those and part of the follow up to that storyline.
"I'LL KILL YOU, I'LL KILL YOU TO DEATH!!!"

Quality Comic Book dialogue here folks.

And Dark Knights: Metal is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in my life and further proves that all DC cares about is DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA,DA, BATMAN!!!

And I am now convinced that Batman, and anything associated with his universe, turns everyone else around him Grimdark.

The version of Batman in Batman v Superman was intended to be a critical... never mind, you all know my shtick by now.
No no no. I wanna know what you meant by what BvS Batman was meant to be intended?
Well, so many people who feel they can call the movie out on its portrayal of Batman as being very violent and jaded and not afraid of killing people seems to arrive at the conclusion "it's wrong, Batman isn't supposed to do that" but they never seem to put much thought into why they chose to portray him that way anyways. I mean, the writers and the director aren't morons who didn't know that Batman is usually not supposed to kill. And neither did they just choose to ignore it because they felt doing so would make for better action scenes. They were doing it to make a point.

The movie portrays a kind of worst case scenario for Batman. This version of Batman is paranoid and unhinged and violent. Which the movie acknowledges. Alfred tells him as much to his face. It makes pretty clear that vigilantes is a cycle of violence that leads to corruption. The movie plays Batman as an Antagonist up until the last quarter. His redemption only really starts after he chose to spare Superman when he realized he's become the same as the man who murdered his parents, an armed psycho holding an innocent man at gunpoint or, you know, spearpoint.

And, well, I think there's also a certain element of this version of Batman being a commentary on Christopher Nolan, who came before him, which represented a very conservative outlook which is why Snyder's a borderline fascist, or how the movie draws a lot of parallels to 9/11 and the violent surge of xenophobia in its wake but that's a whole different can of worms.

I'd have liked to see how a followup to the movie would have handled Batman's redemption but unfortunately Batman v Superman NEVER HAD A SEQUEl.

And comic book publishers still wonder why people prefer their superheroes in TV and movie format.

Oh well, at least the Dick Grayson/Damien Wayne version of Batman and Robin still rocked.

Oh Christ, this image is so goth it shits bats. Pun intended.

As much as I like Batman... I'm so sick of Batman-related media. And yet people will buy enough of this stuff so DC will shill him out further...

You mean Superman destroying whole solar systems by Sneezing in the Silver Age wasn't reveling in its dumbness?

Well, that was the Silver Age. The Comics Code barely allowed villains to rob banks because that might be considered antisocial, etc.

It took Stan Lee dropping the CC to do a couple of Fed Approved anti-drug issues in Spider Man comics for the CC to start to crack.

DC under the Comics Code Authority was a DARK time for DC.

There is a reason why people transitioned to Marvel in the 60s at the time. Because DC's heroes at the time treated the reader like the reader's parents. While the Marvel heroes at the time were more like the reader themselves.

The best part about this is that this character was just introduced a month or two ago.

Long story short, he's an alternate universe Batman and he is a villain against Mainstream Universe Batman.

How he became this way, basically after Joe Chill killed Bruce's parents, somehow he dropped his gun, only for Bruce to pick it up and shot and killed Joe.

Now he is Punisher Batman who is armed to the teeth and locked and loaded.
I'd like him to compete with square enix batman on who is the most edgiest batman of all time.

The only reason I remember that Batman was due to that episode on Squenix by Jim Sterling.

This is really making miss comics in the 90's when the characters were super stylized and dumb as hell, and no-one had ever heard of identity politics.
