It's rather telling that there's much more hype for officially sanctioned legacy servers than there is for this next expansion.
There is?
From what I've seen/heard there is.

Certainly doesn't help that Sargeras went from being THE ultimate, supreme, end-of-all-things badass to some cuck that's sealed away by a Chosen One.
Illidan isn't a chosen one. He explicitly regrets Xe'ra's assertion that he is.
Just because he doesn't like being considered a chosen one doesn't change the fact that he is a chosen one. I mean, if having a space god symbol babble on about how your destiny was written in the stars long before you were even born and the fact that you have golden eyes is a sign of this doesn't make you a chosen one, then I don't know what does.

He was either going to become the Avatar of Sargeras and destroy the world or become Sargeras' prison keeper...pretty sure that makes him a chosen one. :p

To be honest I'm not really sure I buy the whole prison keeper thing. Sargaras could flatten him the second he teleports in, you could very well read it as a suffering and damaged person committing suicide after the task he has been living for is completed.

Believe what you want, but Sargeras and The Legion are officially done, that was the entire purpose of Legion. Now it's going to be all about the old gods and void lords.

Here's the thing, though, when/if it all finally comes to an end, it's going to require a deus ex machina that's even bigger than Illidan himself. Sargeras was built up from the beginning of the franchise itself as being the ultimate evil, the biggest of the big baddies. Dude's a Dark Titan! He's unstoppable! As such, the players never get to fight him because having all that hype behind him as a villain only to get slapped around by 20 rando's would kinda piss all over the notion that he was ever much of a threat. So we get Illidan to serve as a McGuffin and imprison Sargeras, dooming himself to be the dark titan's eternal warden.

Alright...so what about these Void Lords? They're supposed to be even more powerful than Sargeras himself...how are we going to deal with them? Get to fight'em ourselves? Of course not. We'll just beat up some tentacle monsters and let Azeroth herself defeat the Void Lords with the power of friendship. :p

Sargeras and Azeroth clash with the void lords, the combined strength causing an explosion that threatens to shatter the universe, but then as the smoke clears the raid hears a familiar voice. "Magisters' Terrace was merely a setback"

Followed by another familiar voice that tells the citizens of Dalaran to raise their eyes to the skies and observe. :p
