Who's worst Andrew Ryan or Sophia Lamb

My pick is Sophia lamb because she was a bigger enemy to Ryan than Fontaine

I would say Lamb is worse, but that's more because I'm a raging Anarcho-Libertarian than anything else. Her whole ideology goes directly against nearly everything I hold dear.

Without that influence though, I would say Ryan was a more effective leader of Rapture. Until Fontaine decided to toss a few dozen monkeywrenches into the works, Rapture was actually going fairly well under Ryan's leadership. It wasn't until he started abandoning his principals that Ryan's Rapture died. Lamb can't boast even that much. Granted, she started well after Rapture had already fallen to shit, but I can't shake the feeling someone like Ryan could have brought the city at least up to a decent level in the 10 years she had to work.

I will only say one sentence in a reply to this, and it should answer your question:

Would you kindly?

Bad vs thread bad!

But of course Andrew Ryan would win. Did Lamb ever have a totally epic moment? No.

Andrew Ryan was a semi-antagonist in Bioshock while Sophia Lamb was the main antagonist in Bioshock 2. Both are very good games but the first is better.

On Topic: VS threads are frowned upon here because of how easily they start flamewars.

I liked Andrew Ryan. His Rapture was a wonderful idea and with a few tweaks would have worked. I found Lamb to be a bit depressing. She was border line Nazi with her plan to make a "perfect" human. It felt a bit lazy.

Andrew Ryan is a character from Bioshock. He was the founder and ruler of Rapture and often treated it as a dog eat dog dictatorship in which those who created their own fortune could live without restrictions.

Sophia Lamb is from Bioshock 2. She takes over after the events of Bioshock and kinda just makes a cult.

As for my answer.

1) Please hold off on VS threads here, I know this is your first post, but we really don't like them.

and 2) Ryan is far worst. Lamb brought everyone together under a cult, Ryan lead a civil war in Rapture which led to Rapture's downfall. Not to mention that Lamb is just a horrible character all together.

Why exactly? And don't say it's flamebait. It's not like it's "Jesus vs. Allah" or something.

There's legitimate gaming discussion value in here.

IMO Lamb was just more annoying. Pretty much the only way she helped spur me on to the finish was the notion of getting to shove a gag in her face and shut her up. (I hasten the add, the gameplay of Bioshock2 was enough to make me want to finish that game, it's just that I didn't really feel that the possibility of an encounter with Lamb wasn't a part of the drive of the game)

Andrew Ryan I bought in to, and felt endangered by as I played Bioshock 1.

Not really, there is always going to be a camp on both sides who vehemently defend their decision no matter what and will happily flame others for thinking differently.

And I have it on good authority that Allah is God therefore created man and in logics terms would beat Jesus, it gets sketchy when you consider that Jesus died for the sins of man because his dad made us fallible.

Yeah, but they're always going to do that. "Normal" non-vs. threads can descend into my-villain-is-greater-than-yours-bullshit territory just as easily. By that token, "best X ever" should be just as bad. At least this thread doesn't keep up the pretence.

Why is it bad? Really? These two characters both have their place in the same story, and they both position themselves in an antagonistic position towards the player. And they share relations, they actually know each other, so is it really bad to ask "what makes one more compelling than the other? Who's the biggest asshole of the two? Who do you enjoy killing most, and with whom do you sympathize?"

I've noticed some people here dabble in writing in various forms, and we all like a good villain now and then. So it's not a pointless question. We can learn from each other's viewpoint.

Now, "who's worse: Sephiroth or Dr. Breen", that's a slippery slope since 1) those characters don't share the same ground, one's an apple, the other's an orange, and 2) they're from games that have proven to attract far more rabid fanboys.

If we're going to shy away from topics just because there's the slightest possibilty of people taking their opinion too seriously, we might as well close down this site and all like it right now and call it a day. It's the internet, you get fanboys for free. The word "vs." alone shouldn't automatically trigger outright dismissal. Think for a while if it really will be that much of a problem. If things get out of hand, the mods can step in easily.

And let's not go further into the Jesus thing, for obvious reasons :p (but you do have a point there)
