Anger over Edge's KIllzone 2 Review

This is really starting to piss me off.
Why wont people shup up about this game? And when will they learn that just because they like it, their opinion does not hold much weight against my own (from a personal standpoint).

I'm so sick of this 'debate', if you can call it that.

The funny thing about that article was that the writers' main point against Killzone deserving a 7 was, and I quote, "I'm sorry, it just doesn't." It doesn't mention the review in question at all, and doesn't even attempt to prove EDGE wrong. It seems the poor writer read the review and raced to the nearest keyboard, desperate to inflict his fanboy rage on the rest of us.

Honestly, this article embodies the reasons why some people hate gamers today.

Who would have guessed that they would be mad when the closest thing this system has come to a stand-out exclusive, that justifies the hideous expense and lack of content, gets a review calling it like it is, a lackluster title?

The problem that makes PSXE look like a bunch of fanboys is that they attack the score without attacking the content of the review. The score is just the sum of all the points mentioned in the review, if they cannot find a way to refute the points of the review text then their argument boils down to "my score is better than your score". Plus the part about KZ2 being one of the best games ever being an undisputable fact didn't exactly make the writer come off as anything but polemic.

Besides, AFAIK Edge uses a different scoring scale so a 7 is what others would label an 8 (which there are plenty of), competent, fun, just not a real standout game. I'd assume to go higher KZ2 would need to do something that elevates it beyond just not having faults, from what I heard so far the game is pretty much "yet another FPS" that's well implemented but not really treading new territory.

Hah what a self rightous peice of shit that article was. He didsnt even bother saying what was wrong with the reveiw other than it was to low. That was the only reference. WTF?
As yahztee has said before, it doesnt matter what reveiw scores a game gets, all that matters is that if you enjoy it or not. SO who cares if Edge gave it a 7? Does that make the game worse somehow?
There was a thread aout why Pc gamers dont egt involved in Flame wars and this is why, we dont want to lower ourselves to this.
It saddens me that people get so worked up over this crap and will automacticly turn on someone with a different veiwpiont.

This is butthurtedness over a score not because the score is necessarily undeserved or that the review was biased, but because a lower score than that of perceived rivals threatens the fanbois' scoreboard.

I just read the reveiw and i saw one reference to Cole Train from Gears. That was the only one i noticed, comparing charatcers, not consoles.
The reveiw was well written, and it didnt get a perfect score because its not perfect.
The gameplay was excellent and Ai too.
The Story and characterisation sucked and mission objectives have been seen before

Seriously. The level of stupidity is just astonishing. The fanboys should just stop jamming their heads up their asses. Killzone 2 got great reviews from all other sites and magazines.
The game is great. Who the hell cares?!

Like I said, Tycho. Now seriously, when he voices an opinion that the review itself is poorly written, as opposed to going for the joke that a Playstation site is accusing Edge of trying to be controversial to get attention, you know he's pretty clear on his perspective.

And Tyco himself is nothing more than a humorist pundint for video games, in the same sense that Dave Barry is a humorist pundit for politics and life in general. His opinion his, at the end of the day his own, nothing more.

I understand WHY people get bent out of shape about this sort of irrelevent nonsense. Afterall, try telling a sports fan from Chicago that the Bears suck, or even worse, point out that the Cubs are a terrible team. You opinion is meaningless to them in the sense that you won't change their perspective, but that doesn't stop them from being angry.

All told, it doesn't matter what anybody says about killzone 2 at this point as everyone's mind is made up already. The game is going to sell exceptionally well, make gobs of money and provide fuel for new rounds of fanboy flame wars.

Haha, I won't be enjoying this game, because I am entirely not into Killzone 2 nor was I into any Gears of War game! Because they lack any decent story, and for that matter I agree with the reviewer of Edge. These FPS lack a good amount of imagination!

But see there's one funny, really funny part about all this: Tycho is not a games journalist. He's a humorist and pundit. You know who is a games journalist? My roommate (I will not say which publication he writes for, suffice it to say it is not Edge), who I asked about this very incident. To sum up his thoughts he said something to the degree of...

"Publications within the Future Publishing banner (PC Gamer, Edge, et. al), to me, seem to be the most honest and logical in their review style, and usually give very good reasons as to why they're rating a game with the score they're giving it. Furthermore Future's magazines do not seem to use the Game Informer style of 'anything 5/10 or worse is worthless'. Even PC Gamer, which uses the percentage scale, has 50% as being an average/mediocre game, but not one that's completely horrible."

To which I said "so, this is just fanboys being bent out of shape over an imperfect score?"

And he said "Yes, exactly."

For the record, he is aware that Future has, in the past, conducted some deals with companies to give ridicuously good scores to games that get panned critically, but I doubt that's the case here now isn't it.

Now of course you're not going to belive a word of that because you don't believe many things and you seem to think "7/10 = 70% = C = Bad Game". I am merely trying to point out that seriously, some people need to lighten up a bit. Seriously. Even if this was given a 10/10 by Edge I bet most PS3 users would find some way to whine about how the score didn't go up to 11.

Also the ultimate joke here is that if Tycho himself were a games journalist he would be guilty of the same yellow journalism that he accuses Edge of employing.

I'm not banned yet, because I make a valid point. Killzone 2 is not the polish for the PS3 that everybody's been waiting for since release. Sadly, some people seem to think this is me declaring to the world that the PS3 is a pile of festering suck and that anybody who even thinks PS3 and positive thoughts in the same brain are drooling morons who deserve to be stabbed several times, then torn apart by bacteria.

The truth is, I own a PS3, I'm still waiting for something to justify my purchase and I think the fanboys are drooling morons who deserve to be devoured by microbes.
