Now Amazon may of royally fucked up here, but my experince with their customer service has always been positive. They refunded a $150 Xbox One Elite Controller that wasn't delivered to me properly, no questions asked.

What rubs me the wrong way, because I worked retail for a number of years, is walking right into the chatlogs, Joe is immediately big timing them. "I do a show... I got all these youtube followers/subscribers.... if you want gamers to take you seriously you better fix this..." instead of... ya know, going through the motions first like an actual human being and seeing if they could resolve it.

It's just what I know from years being on that side of the counter, the best way to get good service is to be nice as possible... initially. You can always be a dick later, but you can't be a dick first and then be nice. Doesn't work like that.

Am I Wrong?

Naah if he has some weight to throw around then i see no reason not to and he warns people in the process. A LOT of companies will escalate the issue when popular influencer gets in trouble. Joe knows he doesn't have to be nice for the issue to go away once he does the video. Being nice to customer service rule only applies to the average "Joe" (HA!) having a problem. All in all a good move! He gets a video out of it, amazon gets a slap in the face for the shitty practice. Consumers win.

It's assuming that he didn't go to the effort of trying to get to the bottom of it before posting the video. I stopped watching it after about 3 minutes, because I just didn't find it interesting. But for all you know, he did do all of that before recording the video, and got an unsatisfactory response.

Firstly, you pre ordered in August? When are people going to learn to stop doing that?

Secondly sounds like a fuck up by amazon but I've always had exceptional customer service from them. I remember buying toilet off them ('cos it was cheap but a good brand) but it said "delivered to resident" and I live in an apartment with 28 people, I'm not going to knock on every persons door!

So I emailed them and was like "do you know which resident it was handed to 'cos I don't have a clue" and they said "we are very sorry Mr. McAllister, we have no way of knowing who it was handed to so we will send out a replacement". So I said "ok, thanks".

Couple of hours later I get a knock on my door and my toilet roll has arrived, email amazon and tell them to cancel the replacement but they still sent it "for any inconvenience caused".... so I ended up with 90 rolls of toilet paper for 17 pound.

I've had them add extra days to my prime account without asking, sending replacement items without asking them to. They always seem to go above and beyond for me, so this is unusual to say the least ... though I am in the UK and he is in USA.

I find it a little misleading, it says "next day delivery" but it's only on like 0.1% of stuff on amazon, have to be careful on amazon video service 'cos only 25% of them are free on prime (most of which is crap anyway) has other stuff but I don't pay it any attention, such as storing music and photos but whatever, I still like it over all.

Hah, I'm in a very similar situation right now, but with a different store and product. Plus a much tougher magazine deadline. Good thing I'm waiting for a comic instead of a game or I'd be fucked.

So, yeah, I totally get his frustration. That said, I always try to be nice to customer service reps. Most are doing what they can, but simply don't have the means to fix a lot of common issues. They don't control distribution, store policy and so on. And more often than not, all the can do is look something up, apologise and throw some coupons/free replacements at you.

Yeah, while Amazon seemingly selling more pre-orders then they had stock available then being weird late on the ball notifying people is odd and questionable if its a deliberate policy and not some weird screwup (like they got more pre-orders near simultaneously then couldn't get their stock order increased).

I find it a bit hard to give much sympathy to YouTubers who promote this stuff though. I remember unsubscribing from Angr Joe in particular because he'd scream and rant about pre-orders and micro-transactions and call people who bought games with either idiots. But he always buys (and pre-orders apparently) those self-same collectors editions, and usually the microtransactions in the name of "research". Buying or even pre-ordering the game because its your job as a reviewer, sure. But don't buy into all the 100 (or more) dollar editions and overpriced DLC then try and preach about how its awful and anti-consumer.

Angry Joe has always been an idiot. And I mean that almost literally. You can tell that he's the kind of guy with a below average intellect. He's just a stupid guy. That's why I don't watch his show. Out of all the highly educated reviewers and critics out there, with so many interesting things to say, why on Earth would someone bother with this loudmouth moron?

You're still wrong about reviews and critics in general, though.

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of him either, he always wants to be star of the show and his show is so over the top it's off putting. I've watched his movie reviews and he will have 4 or 5 sentences, another person will get half way through one sentence but then Joe pipes up again and steals the spot light ... he should be a politician!

And those skits or bits he does are so cringy and uncomfortable to watch!

I think he does do a great job at reviewing games and films but his character on screen is off putting.

I haven't liked him in years.

Seemed to go off the deep end and was never able to make it back.

Nah, this is all entirely reasonable. Mistakes can be made and being a dick to customer service isn't useful in such a case. I have at times been very annoyed at costumer service and similar helpdesks but I always just vent in private and try to be polite in conversation. It seems to me like whenever I need something there is very often a perfectly simple solution and a 1/4 change that the person I'm asking for help actually knows that solution. Those other 3 times, those are the frustrating ones.

Yeah, it came off as a bit petulant. I can understand being frustrated that the product you had thought was yours for months suddenly went to some one else because you didn't accept a promp fast enough. However, why does he need the collector's edition to review a game? It sucks that he has become so lazy recently, he probably doesn't have the passion for it any more but doesn't want to lose the job because it pays well. It sucks because he is actually a really good interviewer.

Trying to threaten customer service with his youtube subscribers.

Wow. What a ****.

I remember the first thing of his I ever saw was a video he made in anticipation of Red Dead Redemption.

It remains one of the most cringe-inducing things I have ever seen on the internet.

On the other hand, the bit he did at the start of his Battlefield 1 review genuinely made me chuckle.

Eh. He has an act and an audience, and he's making money doing that while I'm working double shifts so he's entertaining someone.

Can you tell me what video it was if you remember? Because I assume Joe has said this a lot over years. I still have Joe under my subscription list, but that only is because he can be good for information sometime. Though that seems to be less and less as time goes on. I don't even touch his movie reviews because there usually 60+ minutes (30 minutes videos for spoiler-free and spoiler videos are almost always 30 minutes in length). He's looks better than most professional reviews sites, yet Joe starts acting like them more and more each time, or probably worse in some cases. That's seems to be the problem with people from the THatGuyWithTheGlasses/Chanel Awesome site. They all grew big egos, act like jerks, and think they're better than everyone else, just because they love or hate movies or games; and think they're being "cool" or "edgy" by not being in the norm.

Also, Joe can't review an action game to save his life. In his Metal Gear Rising Review, he claimed the parry mechanic to be broken. Saying that any player could spam it without consequence, which is bullshit! Maybe someone could get away with on Easy mode, but on Normal mode good luck with that. By stage 3, a player has to know what he or she is doing, otherwise expect a lot of deaths. I know, because trying to senselessly spamming the block/parry mechanic will get you killed on Very Hard and Renvengance difficulty. So either he played on Easy and was lying, or Joe was too stupid to realize that he had gotten better at the game. I want to sat the former, but I have a big feeling it's the latter.

Once in a while he makes a good point, but that's not the point. Anyone who uses a schtick like his deserves not to be taken seriously. The sad part is that apparently hundreds of thousands...scratch that...millions of people do.

Agreed. In a nutshell, he's like "This is TERRIBLE! HORRENDOUS! OUTRAGEOUS, but I actually kind of enjoyed it, and you might as well"
which has me thinking, "Then what was the point of that recent outburst?" I think he tends to fall victim to his own online persona.

I haven't seen much of his stuff recently. His schtick just puts me off.

I like Angry Joe's videos; they make excellent white noise while I work.

Now in a more serious note, there are some things he has said that have rubbed me in the bad way too. "if you want gamers to take you seriously you better fix this" isn't exactly one of them, but I see DudeistBelieve's point. I can only assume he attempted to call customer service and had nothing solved; but I wouldn't be surprised if he made this video before attempting it. Still, I confess I get schadenfreude when someone has problems with their pre-orders.

Not the first time Angry Joe used his "fans" and "popularity" to threaten someone.

I finally unsubscribed to him after his "Mario Party fiasco", I loved his reviews, but his angry rants and questionable actions killed any respect I had for him.

OT: I also worked in Customer Service for 14 Months, and I learned that getting mad at them, is pretty much useless, and will just ruin both of your days.
