This is vaguely related to gaming, but I'm going to put it in off-topic just because its more about a couple of games "journalists".
Many of you probably know who Angry Joe is and have at least watched one or two of his videos. Some of you may even know who Geoff Keighley is, as he's been the person in charge of Spike's VGA show for the past 3 years or so. Although honestly, I'd expect more people to be familiar with Angry Joe.
For those that don't know of him, Angry Joe is an internet Video Game reviewer and journalist originally associated with ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com, although now he's the man behind BlisteredThumbs.net. He has a very distinct style and character to his reviews, often dressing up in costumes and giving over-the-top presentations along with his opinions. There are a lot of theatrics to his videos, and as such he only really holds a certain niche appeal. But love him or hate him, he is very critical of the games industry and is not afraid to say what he really feels.
He was recently invited to the Spike Video Game Awards by Geoff Keighley, who is at least the face of the awards, where he was promised an interview. What followed was a 2-3 minute red carpet ambush 'interview' where Geoff Keighley made it a point to belittle Angry Joe and sidestep his questions (which were submitted by fans of Angry Joe).
Here is the video that Angry Joe posted summarizing the interview and how he felt about it: http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2010/12/geoff-keighley-vgas-interview/
Now watching the whole thing, I have somewhat mixed feelings. On the one hand Angry Joe is clearly very amateur and was ill-prepared for this style of interview. He was caught off guard and was unable to collect himself and keep his poise while asking the hard, critical questions that he had intended to. On the other hand Keighley clearly had no intention of having a one-on-one discussion of mutual respect with Joe. He went into the interview on the offensive, dodged questions, gave misinformation, forced Joe to rush through, and spent most of the time flat out ignoring Joe in favor of events in the background.
What do you guys think? Was Joe being rude by being critical of the VGAs and asking loaded questions on the red carpet, or was Keighley being overly offensive and disrespectful towards Joe from the start? Who came across as the bigger jerk? Did they both act unprofessionally?
