see, you're doing it wrong, there will always be that "future cardiac arrest of america" candidate in any online game you play, the best way to deal with them is to laugh at them, or be sarcastic as hell, see if you can go for the jackpot and have the ambulance called mid-match.

For a while I didn't have a choice, it ain't easy playing as an elite on Halo 3. People bully you and team kill you and really show off some bad colours. But recently things have started to change and it is occuring less commonly and I can say that despite a rough start I don't really have to worry about people aggressivley insulting me on Halo 3.
But... that doesn't mean I can forget some seriously angry comments over and over again insulting me and other people for no good reason. Honestly this seemed to happen more commonly of PC matches of Call of Duty for some reason. I swear I've met some really angry people on that game.

I still kinda like it though, because it helps me feel better about myself knowing that I am a level above that stage of angrily insulting people over video games.

If I get angry at a game it is very unlikey that anyone else will ever know about it. My problem, not their's.

No you are perfectly correct it is just a game and the majority of gamers take their online gaming far too seriously. You shouldn't let them bother you just keep playing, trust me nothing annoys a shouting gamer more than sheer calmness.
Couldn't have said it better.

This is true, although never say to them "Its just a game". My bro is a really angry online gamer when he starts losing T^T and if i say "its just a game" he starts throwing stuff o_O

I know I'm a lot more calm when something pisses me off in a game than my husband. Maybe it's a girl thing, we're better at supressing rage. If we're playing split screen Halo 3 MP I just wonder what his problem is. I'm plaing the same game as him and I'm fine, he's yelling.

Man, the only times I've ever gotten really angry at a game is during WoW after a bunch of boss attempts we fail due to things that aren't my fault. I'm usually very friendly and casual about things, but if I'm putting in several hours of work and lots of gold towards gear repair, I can get a little frustrated.

We had some idiot mage in our Karazhan run once who kept moving during Flame Wreath. >> For serious, it's not that hard a rule to remember. Don't move during Flame Wreath or everyone blows up. That's it. It's got a huge announcement and your character is ON FIRE, it's hard to miss. But no. This one dude kept running back and forth across the room- almost ONLY when Flame Wreath happened. Five times. FIVE. Eventually I snapped (and was the first person to do so, actually). Still, compared to some freakouts I've seen, it was mild. I just called him a fucking idiot (rather loudly) and explained that due to his severe retardation we were kicking him from the group (and did so.)

One or two other frustrating encounters come to mind (Malygos, General Vezax, Hodir) but none of those actually caused me to verbally react.

lets see... People are stupid, persons are smart
thats my idiom
yeah just assume everyone you are playing with is a underage brat, then take pleasure in the fact that you might make them cry if you kill them enough times

ahhhhh good times

I think I'm a pretty fair player, whether I lose or win. If someone gets a particularly good headshot on me, I'll tell them that. If I win, I'll usually tell them they did pretty well anyway, because usually, that IS the case.

This usually earns me an 'lol fag'.

ok ok ok i know i'm not the first one to post about this. god i know that. i just don't feel like scrounging through all the posts to find one like this.
so here's my question, why all the anger on on-line gaming? i mean, there's competitiveness and the there's COMPETITIVENESS. maybe i just notice this more because i'm a girl and it's kinda hard to ignore guys(and girls)start cussing me out just because i was able to kill them a couple of times.
And just how is that "competetiveness"?

The Mute button is your best friend.

But seriously, many people have issues when online, just try your best to ignore them and enjoy yourself.
Agree'd. I've lost count of how many people I've had to mute in the past, but some of these guys are hilarious; Especially the younger gamers who rage...

That's really not "being competitive." It's more "being an asshole." And yes, online games are full of them. Truly competitive players will know when they are beat and will make a plan to come back, not just rage like that.

I can admit to being a little angry when I feel that I've been killed by someone who is cheating or by something beyond my control, like lag....

but generally I don't get too upset. I can hold my own, and there are occasions where I get killed because I do something stupid or because my teammates are horrible and I can't rely on them, these things don't piss me off so much as disappoint.

On topic, I agree with you, people get way too angry online. This is particularly annoying when they start ripping on new players who haven't had a chance to get good at the game yet.
That's what happened to me on TF2. First time playing it and some guy tells me to get off and stop playing because I sucked. Put me off playing it for a while 'til I figured, what the hell, I can improve.
