I was thinking it was more because everyone regards them as "winged spawn of satan", although what you said is rather interesting.GoldenCondor said:Is it because they have the highest homosexual count?Hallow said:Bats. And you know why.

Oh sorry, my bad. Well still agonising poison isn't really a qualifier for loveable, I was just making that comparison as an example that some animals are equally as dangerous as the ones that are reviled but are loved regardless which doesn't seem fair, it's kind of a double standard.Graustein said:Platypus venom is not fatal to humans. It's agonising, but little more than that. And kill a grown man in a few minutes? The funnelweb spider is one of the most venomous creatures in the world, and even that takes at least fifteen minutes to kill a child.

But they are![]()
Thanks! But yes, Rottweilers. And, like. What else. Erm. I can't think of oneVrex360 said:Welcome to the Escapist.
So we're expected to feed, shelter, protect and care for them and in return we aren't even allowed to tell them sit? And maybe I've just had bad experiences with cats, but I've met a fair few which are arrogant, scratchy, biting bastard spawns of satan.VicunaBlue said:Cats: they are misjudged as scratchy, hateful evil things when, if you treat them with respect, and don't try to command them like a dog, are as affectionate as any animal.
It's because platypuses are cute [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WhatMeasureIsANonCute]. Of course it's a double standard, it's human nature to be hypocritical. But a platypus is nowhere near as dangerous as a large predator or a venomous spider, no matter how painful their sting may be.Vrex360 said:Oh sorry, my bad. I believe he means the "man-eating shark" reputation, whereas most sharks don't actually eat humans intentionally. They eat seals, and a human bobbing in the ocean looks like of like a seal bobbing in the ocean. It's worth remembering that sharks rarely actually consume humans, they bite, realize it's a person, spit it outInternet Kraken said:Can you explain exactly what a bad reputation for an animal is? I've been sitting here thinking about what you could mean, but I keep drawing blanks.
Dude nothing against cats but dogs are the most loyal creature on the planet (prolly not factual but still) and a dog lover myself, i find it extremely unfair to say cats shouldnt be ordered like dogs.VicunaBlue said:Cats: they are misjudged as scratchy, hateful evil things when, if you treat them with respect, and don't try to command them like a dog, are as affectionate as any animal.
I actually have to completely disagree. A botload of people love wolves. Everyone loves and assosiates with wolves, just look at the pickup trucks with the rear-tinted mosaic of Howling Wolves and the Moon. If anything, it's the reverse. The majority of people love wolves. Even though they are just literally large animals that kill stuff to feed their big belly. Like a Tiger, or a Coyote. Or a... Mountain Lion, or something. Maybe even a Jackalope.OT: I would say the wolf since they never kill without reason and if you can get to them and treat them with love, they give you love back. After all, wolves are dogs. (Also I have a wolf and if I can find the pictures I will put at least the one with my cat snuggling with my dog.)
Yeah but they are labelled as "Killers" which the wild ones are when they are uninfluenced by love and loyalty. People think wolves are cool but are given a bad reputation for their killing. There is even a horror movie about wolves.Redfefnir said:I actually have to completely disagree. A botload of people love wolves.
