Personally, I like action/comedy anime (Especially fight scenes). Don't interrupt the fights for back story bullshit (save that for like decades before the fight), don't make fights one-sided or have them take turns beating the crap out of each other. So basically don't be like Naruto

I'm a huge UC Gundam fan, so basically you need to kill a lot of your key characters throughout the series.

No "epic" scenes where the main character is about to die but doesn't. If a character is about to die, you kill him.
Agreed. I hate when that happens. Are writers so reluctant to kill off characters?
Oda doesn't do it cause he doesn't want to garner fake sympathy by killing someone off. Also character death is something he himself hates.

But this really makes me laugh you wanna know why? Cause of 1 name.

Kill Em All Tomino.
Thats exactly what I'm talking about

Judging by your earlier comments, the anime you know is mostly shonen type anime. The ones with no set length where the characters never die and just continually become stronger throughout the series, but anime is so much more than those. Kill Em All Tomino is Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam and Ideon, both of which are renowned for some pretty gruesome deaths of key characters in the series.

Oh. I just watched DBZ as a kid, I can't really stand long animes anymore lol. I don't even watch that many. Thanks for the clarification though, I appreciate it!

No problem. I started off with DBZ myself, but I can't watch it now either. I would suggest looking into some anime of 50 episodes or less, they are generally much better than the DBZ style anime IMO.

Very bad english..but moving on.

Go with something like...FullMetal Alchemist or Cowboy Bebop.

Ignore Naruto.
I havent seen cowboy bebop but it its in a similar style to full metal it would be a good bet.

No schoolgirls, guys that look like girls, girls that look like guys
This, plus:
Girls that look 10 or so, but are hundreds of years old; girls that look 20 or so and have big breasts, but have the mentality of a 10 year old girl; girls that look and act like guys, guys that look and act like girls and the hilarious confusions this causes; implied (or explicit, as in the case of the Nanoha series) nudity during transformation sequences in magical girl anime and how the monsters often do nothing to stop said transformation...

Damn, Anime Physics should be a full blown subject, like Chemistry or Mathematics. It has no lack of research material.

Cowboy Bebop really is amazing. Its a cliche to say this, but Cowboy Bebop is it's own genre. You can't describe it within any other single genre really.

When you create it, have a clear end in mind. If it's a game rather than a true anime, don't make it episodic.

Otherwise you'll just be tempted to drag it out.

Not enough. It's also a western in a sense, and there are some pure comedy episodes. Not to mention that most of the music is jazz.

Character depth, cool powers, and stories that actually END and don't keep going forever like Western TV shows. :p

If you can pull it off, I would say do a Matt Hazard and make something that points out the weird little nonsensicalness of anime.

For example, you could a guy doing one of the explosive nosebleeds after seeing a girl half-naked or something, but then have the guy die due to massive blood loss.

Other things include:

purposefully long and confusing attack names that take thirty seconds

someone walking away during said attack or during a transformation

exaggerated differences between apparant and actual age (this can go for kids or adults)

lots and lots of episodes (that would each be about three seconds long), or just start with a really high number and make it seem like your audience has missed a lot by packing enough content to fill a season into one of those previous episode summaries for episode two (don't ever make episode one)

have the fantasy physics stop working when someone brings them up

I could go on, but this is long enough as is is.

Original design, in-depth characters, intelligent dialogue, an involving story--which is to say, the same stuff that I like in everything else.

And the nose-bleed thing is not specifically a censorship-evasion technique. It derives from the traditional Japanese belief that a suppressed sex drive causes nosebleeds. In anime, the nosebleeds don't hit people who are turned on, they hit people who are turned on and aren't getting any.
