Nope, you're gonna have to go into more detail there. TTGL had an extremely satisfying ending, it tied everything up in a neat little package.
Just because it tied up the loose ends doesn't mean it was good.
I have to disagree. It was quite an excellent ending.

No, sorry, but for a series that was all "Row row fight the power!" it seriously irks me that...

At the end, Simon decided NOT to "fight the power" and let Nia disappear, to end up turning into a stinking hobo.
What.

Just...what.

The theme of the series was NOT "FUCK DA POLICE I DO WAT I WANT", nor was it anything close to that reasoning. The "fight the power" theme was more closely resembling a "don't let someone tell you how to live your life" theme, not (and I say this again) "FCUK DA POLICE I DO WAT I WANT". Simon made those choices, no one told him to become a hobo. He made the decision himself, and that was ultimately what the series was about.

I recently just finished watching "fullmetal alchemist", and felt let down by the ending...
I know that not every story has a happy ending, or sad bitter sweet ending. But after watching all of the plot twists come to the conclusions that it did, and knowing it was over.... I felt disappointed...

I have felt this way about other Anime's but was wondering.
What Anime's have you ever felt let down by, or saddened at the ending?
which one did you watch
fma or fma brotherhood?
as I like the original anime ending better which is concluded by a movie
conqueror of shambala.

Can't recall a time where I was let down my an anime ending. Mostly when I don't like an ending to an anime, it's usually a case where I didn't like the anime to begin with. Like Kite: Liberator. The ending was shit, but the anime was shit to begin with. Or Soul Eater, where the ending just made it stupider. Or Elfen Lied. A preposterous ending to an already flawed show.

The only thing that comes to mind is the Berserk anime, which I haven't seen. I read the manga, and I looked up the ending to the anime because I was curious to where they ended it, and I was just like "Seriously? Your ending it THERE?!"

Other than that, it's usually the opposite. Where an anime is crap but has a good ending, like (for me anyway) Katanagatari. The rest of the anime is boring and way to talky (which I usually don't have a problem with, but DAMN THESE PEOPLE JUST WON'T SHUT UP AND JUST FIGHT!), but the entire last episode was brilliant.

I'm one of the few people who liked the original Fullmetal Alchemist series rather than Brotherhood, or I should say first. It just felt more elegant and had that touch of seriousness. Brotherhood and the original manga just turned into a battle anime/manga with a bunch of random characters and a villain who I still don't understand.

Also having
Roy be the one who killed Winry's parents instead of Scar was an amazing character revelation, and the "twist" near the end was amazing. I'll admit that the movie itself was kind of "meh" though.

It didn't really dissapoint me, but the ending to tasogare xamnesia. I thought the last episode was pretty fucking boss, even making me cry more than angel beats did. And then at the very end, after you've come to acceptance and stopped sniffling, silverlight studios goes TROLOLOLOLOLOL. Both epic and eye twitchingly frustrating at the same time.

There are others, but none of them are really coming to mind for me.

Oh! To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, but that's just because it ended period. I WANT MOAR MISAKA AND KUROKO. I have a few ideas for more railgun seasons... please? pretty please? D=

Samurai Champloo's ending was so emotionally unsatisfying... dammit why did you have to bring up these memories?!

Claymore - so crap it turned me off the manga... *strangled noise*
The anime was so badly done in comparison to the manga, but I know exactly what you're talking about. The manga is still awesome though, though at this point it's dragging just a little bit.

OT: Bakuretsu Tenshi (Burst Angel) the anime is actually rather interesting in a 'this-is-absolutely-ridiculous' kind of way, but I enjoyed it and the ending made me mad because it just ended and didn't give us an epilogue so we have no idea what happened to everyone.

If this was about manga as well I'd be adding Negima! in for sure. It gave us an epilogue but left so many plot threads unanswered.

[Because I havent been able to get the hang of this quoting system yet my reply is for my comment on the Blood: the last vampire]

I had no idea there was a series following Blood the last vampire. Where im from we dont too many varieties of anime unless you find one of those rare places that deals with anime specifically. But knowing now there is a series kind of makes more sense, & I was refering to the anime.

However, even for a prelude to a series it was still anticlamactic. The idea of selling a series is to promote it with a kick-arse lengthy film that makes you want to see more, not something resembling an over hyped half done episode. I guess had I known there was a series I wouldn't have bothered based on that issue alone.

I think a more productive question would be "what anime HAS ended well". That list is far shorter. Many anime seem to fall into the idea that if they end conclusively, no one will want any more; thereby thwarting hopes of a second season. Whereas if the ending is open-ended, fans will be clamoring for more and they can get another season green-lit. Problem is, most don't just end "open-ended", they either don't conclude anything, or have some WTF ending. Even many of my favorites fall prey to this. IE Mizuki Kawashita. (author of Ichigo 100% among others) I love her series, but all save Ichigo was ruined by an absolutely terrible ending.

Full Metal Alcehmist: Brotherhood, because if you're going to introduce THAT many characters, you'd better kill of at least a quarter of them by the end of the series. Instead, only a few characters died here and there. Many of the characters outlive their purpose and stop doing anything useful, and when they start doing that I believe there's only one thing left for them to do: GET KILLED AND ADD DRAMATIC TENSION!

Seriously, Scar, Marcou, most of those chimera guys, Lan Fan or Ling; and either Roy or Hawkeye definitely should have bit the dust before the series ended. Sloth should have at least killed one of the Armstrong siblings and WHY DIDN'T FATHER GET TO MURDER AT LEAST ONE PERSON!?

Although the ending wasn't exactly the worst part.

Highschool of the dead was pretty shit.

Persona 4 because it counts. Seriously though, it was waaaaay too rushed and they just skipped to the goodbyes after the big baddie was defeated. They didn't even celebrate Christmas! I had such high hopes for a Christmas episode and how they were going to do it because it was the "super-triumphant you've earned this peace for now" kind of thing. But nope! They just skipped it like no one even gave a shit! I know there's going to be a real ending episode but there is no way that it's going to clear everything up in just 25 minutes. It will be beyond rushed and just leave a bad taste in my mouth. :(

I wasn't a fan of the ending Gantz got (I have no problem with the original stuff they put in, since the anime ended up taking over the manga storyline). Namely the last ten or so minutes. It seemed very...un...ending. Kind of reminded me of the end of Halo 2 in a way.

We may need more details. Aside from the hamster thing turning into a dude (Srsly...wtf?), I liked the ending. Unless you just didn't like the whole anti-spiral thing, which I'll admit, seemed rather odd.
