So, after my last thread for more content on the boards went flaccid, despite it containing space and cowboys and magic, I'm going for a more sure thing here to redeem myself. Now rest assured, there was a lot of long and hard thought put into this topic. Spheres of pondering wibbled and wobbled back and forth, but eventually the idea for my next topic bounced into place.

Ladies and gentlemen;

Yep.

ITS THE FANSERVICE THREAD!

Be WARNED. What follows may obviously be NSFW, nor safe for normal human consumption. Additionally Do not give this thread to children or adults.

So, this thread is to talk about our favorite fanservice animes. Which we like the best. Which ones have the best plot, and the best plot.

I'll go first, with three of my favorites.

Sekirei

Yeah, this show is pretty great. Its funny, the action is fairly well done and its basically Pokemon, but with hot chicks instead of monsters. It hits a hitch in the final section of Season 2 though, where everyone catches the dumb and forgets the extent of their powers. Also, they haven't made Season 3 yet, which is sad.

Monster Musume

This one isn't even done yet, but its amazing. It has super nice production, everyone is funny or interesting to watch and the stuff they get away with is just nuts.

Witchblade

Yeah, this is one actually pretty serious. The women (and guys even) are all designed to be super hot and have ridiculous armor and abilities, but goddamn the story is good, the action is well done and the ending is used to sort out robots from real people with feelings.

So, what do you think? Have any favorites, or is the scum of the Earth?

Also, two bonus things.

ELFGORE BAIT!

EDIT: I don't know why the pictures got messed up. Sorry.

Question! Didn't we already do this a little bit ago? Ah well, I don't care. I like this topic.

Anyway, here are my favorites:

Strike Witches. Cute girls and a WWII-type deal? Sold. I like the story, I like the characters (Sanya is the best, and Eila with her is icing on the cake), and it doesn't take itself too seriously. It is fully aware of what its marketing appeal is. I mean, one of the episodes literally starts with Sanya flying in from a night patrol and it zooms in on her butt. And then that's the last you see of Sanya for that episode.
My one complaint would be that it keeps dangling this carrot, hinting the the Neuroi are more complex than we've been lead to believe, but it never goes anywhere with it. Also (and I know this flies in the face of what I just said), no Witches ever die. Sure, we see ships get blown up and planes shot down, but the Witches are always fine. I want to see some casualties once in a while. You can't fight a war like this and not lose people.

High School DxD. I'll admit, this show started a bit too over the top for me. Like...wow, we are crossing lines and we are not looking back, are we? I'm...not sure I'm comfortable with that. I'm all for fan service, but this show was really testing the limits. But I kept going, and when Asia's story started, I was amazed at how dark it was, and how good it was. I was hooked there.
Sadly, it hasn't seem to have hit that same level since. It's still fun to watch, but it seems to be struggling to find that perfect balance between fan service with no shame--seriously, Reis, every night in his bed?--and dark, world-ending things. Instead, it's turning into tournament fights, or fighting the same villains again and again. We need more death, we need more struggles. We need to bring back the Reis who coldly executed three angels, not the Reis that is constantly crying for the main guy to save her or to be careful.

Heaven's Lost Property. Nymph. Enough said.

Monster Musume. I don't know why, but I can't stop reading and watching this series. There is no plot, nor even an attempt at a plot. No hidden agenda, no master of evil lurking in the shadows, no nothing. It is literally just a story about hot animal girls finding ways to lose their clothes again and again while they all try to win the guy's heart. And I love it.

Negima gets an honorable mention. Once the Magical World arch started, it kind of lost that fan service feeling--and a lot of other things in my opinion--but that was the first series that introduced me to this kind of thing.

Prision school (watch and read this manga is GREAT)
i will copy from wikipedia since i suck at writting a good description

Hachimitsu Academy, one of the strictest girls academies in Tokyo, has decided to admit boys into their system. Kiyoshi Fujino is one of these new boys, but he discovers to his shock that he and his four friends?Takehito "Gakuto" Morokuzu, Shingo Wakamoto, Jouji "Joe" Nezu, and Reiji "Andre" Andou?are the only male students among 1,000 girls. Even worse are the draconian laws that are still in place, which punishes even the most minor infractions with a stay in the school's prison. A series of perverted accidents causes the five boys to be "arrested" and receive an ultimatum: either stay a month in the school's Prison Block or be expelled.

Yes this is an actual discussion in the manga
Hanagai
Shimoneta
I will probably go into more detail later and with pictures

Wanna be the strongest in the world manages to both balance story with plot. Fair warning, the audio could easily be mistaken for a hentai, so watch with caution.

Well, the Elfgore bait worked like a charm... Shocker there. Just throw up a picture of Sena and I'll pretty much sniff it out. Picture it like my bat signal.

Yeah, Haganai has got some nice "plot" and plot going on. Probably my favorite, but honestly I have little faith in a decent ending. Japanese LN authors don't know how to write a decent ending and tend to butcher everything, which this one has done. Turning Kodaka into an asshole and making a "open to interpretation" ending.

Highschool DxD's gotta be mentioned, The Familiar of Zero, Sekirei(Manga only, anime is awful), and Rosario+Vampire(anime is tolerable, but destroyed by the manga). Monster Musume is pretty solid too, haven't had time to check out the anime past like five episodes. But what I've seen looks good.

Scum of the Earth?
Well, I'm rather predictable, and even if I mutter such a thing, I will rampage all over this thread.
My fire breath shall make all lovers of said shit genre crumble into ashes that I'll feed into someone's butt!

The ha-... grr... genre is my eternal hatred.

Apart from that, while I'm not a big fan of ecchi, I have two I like.

- Strike Witches. Because I prefer the great, grand subtance that is JUSTICE to the poopy plot.
- Shimoneta. Because DAMN, that is just entertaining.

For some reason I never took Shimoneta as a proper fanservice anime because there's basically no attempt to shove boobs in your face unlike Highschool DxD for example and the actual nudity is tastefully censored in a comedic fashion. I mean aside from the Anna thing but I find that more funny and disturbing than actually being sexually attractive. If Shimoneta decides to turn more serious (unlikely) they could turn that into something nasty.

Also the standard Monster Monsume plug because, well, it's freaking monstergirls what do you expect? If someone made a monstergirl anime and it wasn't based around being sexy fanservice I would just be disappointed. Sexy monstergirls has been the focal theme of one of the best stories I have ever seen afterall so there's no excuse.

Does Highschool of the Dead count? The fanservice is next fucking level and the plot is kinda standard zombie apocalypse stuff but it's not bad really. It's fun in a stupid way.

Oh and do not believe someone hasn't said Kill la Kill. Where magical girl fanservice IS the plot. It's great.

Oh oh and No Game No Life. I fucking loved that anime, the artstyle has to be seen to be believed. It's probably the most gorgeous thing to behold from any anime ever.

I find the lack of Monogatari here highly disturbing.

But yeah, the Monogatari is my favorite ecchi series, as well as just one of my favorite anime.

Um. Paragon. Mate- it was kinda funny the first time you mentioned me in one of your threads but this is getting a little weird.
I'm not sure why I've been cast as some disapproving woman here, I really don't care either way about anime titties but yeah. Can u not.

Sorry for derail- back to normal thread.
Also forgive me if this comes out weird I'm on my phone.

Ahhh, I hate to be "that guy" but when a show gets too fanservice-y I lose interest. I can put up with it in small doses (my first anime "Blue Seed" seemed to have a panty shot quota of 1 per episode) but fanservice and the dwelling on highschool as a setting are things I don't enjoy in general as well as anime. In fact one of the reasons I liked Okami-San and Her 7 Companions, regardless of it being a highschool anime, was how it used the narrator to draw attention to the inclusion or lack of fanservice or other anime tropes as to use them "ironically" as part of its humor in a deconstruction of the genre.

I guess the most fanservice-y thing I liked was Tenchi. It got a little overboard with the spraying noseblood in the more recent GXP, but it was enough more of a space story than the original that I gave it a pass too.

To be sure, all these jubblies are quite entertaining.

However, are there any examples of 'good' male fanservice? I ask for reasons...

Say no more, for I play for the opposite team see?

I'm all for the two up front loaded anvils, but while all you vanilla wares are going for the good ending, I strive for something true and powerful.

I'm talking about bara titties, pecs, the muscular anatomy, the holiest of sin, the cream of the crop when it comes to the plot!

And only Jojo's Bizarre Adventure can offer such purity as this. [Warning: proper NSFW images ahead]

Did someone say "PLOT"

Sometimes the plot can be quite gripping.

Though at times you got to really look hard for it.

Other times it takes a bit of time for the plot to grow.
