For the love of jebus, learn to spell words correctly, GAH.

Trying to decypher everything now...

Oh, right. I've only watched the 6 first episodes of FMA, then quit due to download limit restraints (only 20 gb download per month in Belgium, fuck yeah.). In the meantime I dl'ed them all (including the movie), but I haven't watched the rest yet. 52 episodes and a movie just seem so much.

On the other hand, I had no problems watching Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samurai X, which I think you're referring to). The OVA's are widely regarded as one of the best anime's ever made, but I've yet to watch them >.<
The first and second arc were based on the manga, and made this series into one of my favs. The third arc, however, was basically filler, because the third manga arc wasn't finished yet. I've watched 4 episodes of the filler arc, then stopped. It was so boring, a real disgrace to the series. To me, there is no third anime arc.

Personally I like fillers inbetween arcs (In Naruto Shippuuden they went over 50 episodes with out a filler nearly loosing all hope in the anime (and now I can't be arsed to watch episode 61+ anymore)) give the viewers a break from watching from watching overly stretched semi climaxes.

Ya know neither bleach or naruto are good examples of well..good anime at all i think. There are a lot of far shorter, around 26 or 24 episode, shows around. It's been said before in this post but i think i would'nt hurt to say that naruto and bleach are not like a lot of anime out there at all. I would definately recommend cowboy bebop and neon genesis evangelion - at least the action is well done. Ghost in the shell is also one of the more popular intelligent shows out there. To be honest anime is like a lot of things: there's 90% crap and 10% good stuff out there.

By the way, what's your opinion on the new Bleach Filler? Imo, it's far better than Bount but still lacks in a lot of areas.Couldn't they just ditch that Princess-***** and focus on Amagai altogether? His episodes are getting interesting, unlike the ones in which Ichigo babysits that dumb skank.

EDIT>> And to the OP, if you hate the Bount Arc, why the fuck are you watching it? Just skip 30 episodes and move onto the proper story. It's not like you don't have a choice like with the new filler.

I know, I know, but those were the only examples I could find for fillers.
I enjoy Neon Genesis Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell
Also, I agree that the only anime I've seen that stuck to the manga completely was Death Note, which was awesome.

well alot of people don't understand the nature of animes and thus don't like them, the animes with "horrible or confusing endings" are actually most of the time animes that end because they lose funding and can't do the next season, the mangas usually carry off from where alot of animes die out.

not all animes are "charging their attacks for 3 episodes" and Naruto and Bleach both started out good imo, I watched naruto for a long time and enjoyed most of it, same with Bleach, but I'm done watching Bleach cause they are reusing old story line templates in different settings (had to save the one chick and raid an impossible place to save them, copy and paste onto the new story line) and the new Bleach arc, WTF?!?! one day they are in where ever that spirit world place was, next episode they are all back in the real world like nothing happened just to start a really bad filler arc? WTF are you thinking?

naruto is a love hate relationship with me, when the fighting gets good and the story is USUALLY pretty interesting (I liked the fight with the giant sword guy and his side kick)

in all seriousness anime stems from a totally different culture then america, some of the stuff you have to take with a grain of salt, because thats just how thier culture is, for example, in america you have seasons which take a break over the summer months usually, but japanese anime runs none stop with no breaks, so obviously they will run out of material, sure somethings are annouying in anime, filler arcs, flash back episodes, stare down contests, bad guys spouting life stories at the drop of a hat, but there is ALOT of good anime out there aswell, if you don't like anime, thats fine, not everyone understands it or wants to understand it, and you can stick to your american movies if you like, but other people enjoy some of the new animes and old animes, and since its geared towards a more teenage audience, tends to help to be abit younger to get it lol

and this thread as turned into a talk about anime to a bashing of naruto and bleach, okay we get it, you don't like it,

Gotta agree with ya. I'd prefer they focus more on Amagai. He's more interesting than the princess, and there's more action with him too.

I do have to agree, there is a good lot of movies that I did like. (Non-series based)

But if they spent less time with bullshit and fillers, anime series would be so much better.

Someone's probably going to kill me, but the Pokemon series passed the above test, where it failed; continuity.

I liked Bleach right up until they left the human world for the soul society, right about there was when I stopped caring, but I have followed it. I didn't like the Bount arc and I don't think I like the princess arc, from what I've heard they are treating the protagonist (Ichigo) like a 2nd class citizen despite the fact that he can kill most of them all at once and he will work for/with them since he is a decent guy.
I really like how all of my conversations involving a comparison of anime character powers and comic book character powers (using Justice League unlimited and the like) always have an anime fan boy trying to say the anime character in question could beat superman, sure that character can move "faster than the eye can see" that is a style thing, the Flash is the fastest creature in existence and if you don't blink you can see him unless he is going all out, but at his full speed he destroys everything of a certain durability, or lack there of (like windows, clothes, and anything not tied down under 50 lbs. will get tossed aside) I can safely say this because Goku has never ran around the world in under 30 seconds, the Flash has done it in less than 10.

My favourite Anime series all lack long fillers, Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Beebop, FLCL, Ghost in the Shell and Karas.

I think the reason why Bleach and Naruto have such crap fillers as even though they have guranteed funding and a large budget for every season, they have a limited budget per episode, and with the movies being made this also afffects the studios. OVAs tend to have the best production values, look at Karas.

Naruto, Bleach?

OP, you're whining about how bad anime is based on THOSE? That isn't anime, it's american audience dogshit wrapped up in japanese ink and packaged as a happy meal with fries and sodomy. What next, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Dragon Ball, and Gundam?
Two things:

1. They're moaning about filler, not anime in general. Shonen fighting bollocks has filler like dogs have fleas, so that's going to be the examples they draw on.

2. Naruto and Bleach are, like all the other shonen fighting bollocks, made for the Japanese market, appeal to american audiences is a distinctly secondary concern.

Ninja 1: Haha! I have you trapped. Now I shall unleash my super duper technique#1, and thus end your miserable life.

Ninja 2: Well, I shall counter your super-duper technique#1 with my own specially devised technique which just so happens to be perfect for situations like these, which I shall use to crush you!

Ninja 1: Ha! You think that will stop me? I shall counter your counter with my super overpowered pie finger technique, which will cancel out your counter and prove that I am the supreme ninja!

Ninja 2: In that case, I shall use my ultimate ninjutsu technique, wherein I shall rip out your eyes and beat you to death with your own bandana, proving that you are no match for my awesome power.

Naruto: SASUKEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just reminded me of:
Inigo Montoya: You are using Bonetti's Defense against me, ah?
Man in Black: I thought it fitting considering the rocky terrain.
Inigo Montoya: Naturally, you must suspect me to attack with Capa Ferro?
Man in Black: Naturally... but I find that Thibault cancels out Capa Ferro. Don't you?
Inigo Montoya: Unless the enemy has studied his Agrippa... which I have.

Except that the latter is FAR superior to the former.

Also I did like Outlaw Star more than Cowboy Beebop and I am not ashamed to admit it. TAKE THAT Beebop fans!!
I will concede that Outlaw Star is better than Cowboy Beebop.

But, Cowboy Bebop? That owns all.

Well, I've got to say that if you expect anything from Bleach, you will be sadly mistaken.
The shows that have anime-only arcs are generally just trying to hang around longer so that they can suck up more consumer funds.

Except Full Metal Alchemist, which was released before the manga was finished, and had to write the stuff for themselves, with disastrous results.

Or because the animation farm releases episodes faster than the Manga artist can draw/write.

I liked the anime, but I can't argue that the Manga is MUCH Better in pretty much every way, cooler fights, better plot, better art, creepier villains the whole shebang.

By the way: did anyone hear this terrible news, i recently found out they are releasing the atrocious (sorry if i spelled that wrong) bleach movie in english IN THEATERS. How stupid can my fellow American people be. I watched the movie halfway through and got so bored a went to do something else. I still can't believe craptacular shows get movies in theatres while good driving shows get knocked down a peg because noone cares to watch decent shows anymore all they want is colorful characters that say random stupid things to keep audiances distracted long enough to waste most of their time watching stupid fillers about secondary characters going about looking for ways to say random dialog while tossing other characters off in an orgy of pure stupidity. Trigun, Outlaw Star, Death Note, Cowboy Beebop, Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai 7, and Samurai Champloo

[Gavo], Your problem is that you're watching Dubbed anime. Dubbed always sucks much more than it is Raw or Subbed. What you may not know is that the Bount arc is actually completely filler, because the anime actually outran the manga at that point.

If you look at most of the fillers in that anime series, the Bount arc is the best. When I first saw it, i knew something was off, but it IS a great attempt. Trust me, if you were completely up to date on Bleach, and had seen the latest filler arc, you would be pissed...Not only did they cut into the middle of an already existing arc, the arc truly sucks more than any other arc I've seen yet.

Naruto usually adds humor into it's story, and, like I've said, dub makes it worse. If you're watching Dub, then you're in the really really long filler arc now. It's called the filler arc because it went on for a year or two...It sucked. Just wait for some of the fights when shippuden comes out in america...Very awesome, if not too much talking...

But, i'm rambling...If you don't like it, don't watch...No one's forcing you, and you have no reason to watch unless you enjoy the show or story...So...yea..
