Yeah, another one.

So, I just finished another anime series and needed a new one. I recalled that a friend had recommended Reborn! to me a few years ago so, I thought I'd give it a look. I'm two episodes in and I gotta say...not lookin like my kind of anime. Thus, I have come to you, my fellow Escapists, in the hopes that some amongst you might be able to suggest something more along the lines of what I usually watch, or at least something good.

Here's a list of things I've watched in the past (and enjoyed):
Outlaw Star
Naruto
Bleach
FLCL
Soul Eater
Cowboy Beebop
Trigun
Full Metal Alchemist (and Brotherhood)
Pilot Candidate
Various Gundams
YuYu Hakusho
Ghost in the Shell (and 2nd Gig)
Evangelion

And many others. Please, I beg you, find me something along these lines. If I've watched it already, I'll let you know. Also, assume acquiring it is not an issue, monetary or otherwise.

Did you watch Baccono? It's one of the better dubs out there.
Thats a good show. I love the little kid and when
he gets shot in the face at point blank and his face re-forms and he comes back alive and then gets tortured by the Rail Tracer

You seriously enjoyed Naruto and Bleach?[/troll]

On topic, Gurren Lagann. You can watch it dubbed on YouTube... Or be a pirate and watch it subbed in much lower quality.

Orphen (Sorcerous Stabber Orphen) is a little-known but well-loved fantasy anime that you would definitely like based on that list. If you can find it, I highly recommend it. The second season, subtitled Revenge, takes on a more comedic focus and isn't quite as good, but still worth watching.

Also, Clannad. It's different from the ones you listed; it's a romantic drama/comedy. Not only is it very funny and pretty adorable, it will make you cry. I guarantee it will make you cry. I don't care if you've never cried in anything ever before, you will cry. Specifically in the second and final season, After Story. It's freaking amazing.

This is coming from someone who despises mecha-anime. Tengen Toppa Gurren Laganna and Code Geass. They are both mecha-shows, but they are both so incredibly well done that I just didnt care. Gurren Lagann is one of those shows that flicks between hilarious, self-parody and existential angst without seeming schizo, and Code Geass just has such incredible story and character interactions that the robots (which for the most part are kinda in the background like tanks are in a war story) dont even take it away for me.

The Hellsing OVA is also excellent if you can find it. Basically the normal anime was poorly done, but each of the OVA is a one hour long adaption of each manga volume, with beautiful animation that rivals.. pretty much anything. Incredible, and its one of the few few few anime dubs which dont completely suck - because they actually got all the accents right (irish guy, german guy, the british ones sound a bit like chimney sweeps but oh well).

Id also like to recommend Negima! But ONLY AS A MANGA. The anime is famously bad, and has the majority of the story cut out - not to mention some of the main characters (including bizarrely the main characters best friend and rival. think about it, itd be like if the Bleach anime cut out Rukia or something).

For a delightful "slice of life" comedy with endearing characters, try Azumanga Daioh. It really is quite charming with at least one "laugh until you cry" moment per episode. And Osaka is adorable.

For pure hot blooded excitement, try Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. I watched it knowing all the major plot points with high expectations, and it still blew me away. It can't be overstated how exhilirating is the series.

For gratuitous violence, a cast full of bastards and a fantastic dub, try Black Lagoon. Not for everyone, but if you enjoy action films you will enjoy this. Just be prepared for the gut punch that is the Hansel and Gretel episodes.

For incomprehensible levels of planning and counter-planning between geniuses and epic potato chips, try Death Note. Personally I prefer the two live action films, but the series is still enjoyable. Just don't become another of the misaimed fandom.

Finally, Planetes, a series about collecting space junk. I haven't actually watched the series, but I have read nothing but good things about it and recommending it seemed a good idea at the time.

Thanks a lot everyone. I've got a pretty good list of things to watch, and after looking into them a little bit, it looks like I'll be enjoying them. Hopefully this will last me until Fable 3 comes out.
