I recently taken an interest in anime, and was looking for suggestions. I know this thread has been done a million times already. I am looking for Comedy and/or action anime, with minimal Romantic sideplot.

What are your suggestions?

Welcome to the NHK is completely perfect for ya. Romantic sideplot plus lovely comedy.

For action with slight romantic sub plot, Yu Yu Hakusho is pretty good and it has lovely action. They use their heads to think how to win. With strategy! Yay!

Death Note, it's just great, until the end but I'll let you get pissed when you see it yourself.

Fairy Tail is alright.

Full Metal Alchemist... I cant vouch for the Not Romantic Sub Plot but its still good.

Zatch Bell is also bloody fantastic.

Outlaw Star is pretty damn good but does have a minor romance thing that pops up a more near the end of it.

*edit* if your interested in some action/comedy i would say Lupin the third, also has a romance thing those it is very comedy and once sided used more or less for the sake of the main character to get screwed over.

I suggest Bleach. 'Cept the fillers get annoying, they're something you should try to avoid.

I beg to differ. I haven't watched it since I was 10, but I remember that Yusuke doesn't have even half a brain.

OT: You should try Soul Eater. It's pretty action packed, and the fight scenes are quite well choreographed. Romance is mostly non-existent and the comedy is quite wacky.

Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Beepbop, Afro Samurai, Bleach and Death Note all seem awesome.

Cowboy Bebop.

It completely destroys the popular anime series of today. It's like western meets the future.. And it's awesome!

For action I would suggest Darker than Black. I'm watching it again right now. It's just a really great show.

For a bit of both comedy and action you could go for History's strongest disciple Kenichi.

I can't beleive that no one has suggested 'Excel Saga' yet.
Fits the bill perfectly. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it will blow minds.

Buso Renkin has all three of those. Killing monsters, slight romantic side plot, and hilarious. Really good anime. Also check out the anime review sectoin they have some good suggestions in their.
EDIT: Also Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is prolly the greatest anime ever and once again is focused on action, romance, and comedy. This is better than my first suggestion.

Yusuke starts fighting smarter further into the series but he is generally a brawler. The ones that generally fight smart are Hiei and Kurama.

Golden Boy

Funny as hell. Maybe a little bit sexist here and there, but I laughed my ass off.
