Do you have a favorite anime series you want to share with others?

For me, nothing is as awesome as Big O.
There is just something awesome of about the neo-noir story and characters etc. combined with giant robot sci-fi. I love the intelligent dialogue and the well thought-out characters. I like that the show has this ambiguity to it that allows me to form my own conclusions about the world where it all takes place.

I also enjoy but not as much as Big O:

Cowboy Bebop
Detective Conan/Case Closed
Cyborg 009

Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Don't let the fact that it's a magical girl anime fool you. Watch it. Now.

It's one of the few anime I rewatch regularly and never get bored of it.

Same goes for FLCL.

Everything else I've seen I'm sure people already saw and has been mentioned a million times before.

Too true. I wish that people would just make up their minds and write a nice, well thought out paragraph about their favorite show, but all we ever get are lists.

Seriously, why is it always lists?

I think it is easier to list different shows than discuss why they like one show, less thinking involved.

Android Kikaider: The Animation is my favorite anime. The premise of it is essentially a scientist developed a chip that emulates the human consciousness and soul. Jiro aka Kikaider struggles with his innocence, the fact that his immense power makes him very dangerous, and the fact that immoral people can control him against his will. Ultimately the show's conclusion is that the nature of what makes of human...what makes Pinocchio a real boy in reality may not be pleasant. It's wonderful and depressing.

Durarara- It's short for an anime and every episode gives you insight into the characters and advances the plot. There are so many different kinds of characters it's easy to find one to love.

Dirty Pair- It's one of my favorite old school animes. Two badass girls solving problems and causing trouble while looking good doing it. Dirty Pair has a little bit of every genre in it. The main character Yuri and Kei are characters with a lot of personality and a strong friendship. The two work for the 3WA in the far future acting as "trouble consultants". Officially they are called The Lovely Angels...however....they are known as the Dirty Pair due to the fact that their missions, while usually successful technically, are often cause for disaster.

Dirty Pair Flash- This is a 90's recon of the original Dirty Pair. I'm not a HUGE fan of it because it's so fan servicey and a lot of the humor derives from the gender sterotypes the original anime avoided but the show does have a lot of funny moments and deals a lot with character developement.

Case Closed- This is a classic if you love mysteries. This show has an almost perfect balance of dark situations and light hearted humor, as appropriate. It's hard to describe without watching it.

Paranoia Agent- Another dark anime...and I mean this show tackles dozens of psychological aspects from a very intriguing perspective. It's a really psychological show wrapped in this incredibly ridiculous heady packaging.

Witch Hunter Robin- I never caught the last few episodes but I enjoyed the show. It's kind of slow and you have to pay attention to a lot of the things you learn about the world. It kind of has a noir-esque atmosphere to it, and the minimalist expressions of emotion in certain characters works well. It's one of those shows you might have to rewatch.

S-CRY-ed- This ran once on Adult Swim, and it was a good show. Longer than most of the shows I've listed by far, but for the most part the plot keeps moving. There are times when character work you're nerves, and episodes that are devoted to virtually nothing but decision making....but it all kinda pays off in the end. This is a show that if you like longer animes you will enjoy but if not you may be turned off because it's one of those shows that dragged on a taaaad tooo long.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo if you like weird shit....no other word for it weirdness x10

I SHALL DEFY YOUR STEREOTYPES!

Ah! My Goddess (Oh! My Goddess) - Romance/comedy - Currently reading the manga. Just so goddam sweet. Simply put your average bad-with-girls guy get a free wish from a kind of divine assistance agency (think a genie) and jokingly wishes for her to stay. Well... she does... and between her naivety and his awkwardness a whole lot of heartwarming takes place.

Outlaw Star - Action/comedy - Through a random contract a part-time bounty hunter part-time handyman receives the most advanced ship in the galaxy and its 'Navigation System' a girl that linearly links to the ship and starts a quest to solve the greatest mystery in the galaxy and solve her mystery as well.

Fuck grammar I'm tired

My overall favourite would have to be Neon Genesis Evangelion, including the film End of Evangelion. I know it can be angsty and for some other people Shinji may get on their nerves, but I feel like I can sympathise with Shinji and the things discussed in the show's philosophy and psychology, which I think are interesting and meaningful, even if others think its pretentious. The overall message would have to be that people are worth knowing even if they hurt you sometimes and life is worth living even if its difficult sonetimes, which I think is a good optimistic message.

Apart from those reasons, it has awesome battles, music, imagery, interesting characters and much more. So it's my favourite.

Also, I rewatched the entire 26 episodes of Evangelion recently, including the directors cuts and it definitely isn't as angsty as people make it out to be. I just think people can't be bothered to try and get to the heart of what the show is talking about.

Other worthy mentions include Clannad (and After Story), Steins;Gate (i just finished it - fucking awesome), Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiments Lain. I dunno why, but I tend to prefer more mature anime that try and discuss certain things like philosophy, psychology and other things to be far more interesting.

Let see-
Tenchi Muyo. This was back during the birth of Toonami so I watch animes like DBZ and Gundam Wing. So back then I only know anime for action. Tenchi on the other hand taught me that anime can be about love/ romance and I grew to like the characters in it to the point that I started to care for them abit.

Burn Up Excess. Yes from a stand point who never watch it, it's just plain big boob girls fanservice HOWEVER if you give it a chance you find this anime to be hilarious. Ok I admit I did bought this anime cos I was teenager back then (mind you I did watch it beforehand so I decided to buy the rest of the episode on dvd) but when I watch more of it I just grown to love the anime itself. It had wonderful cast with each of the femal cast had their traits and qualities and a interesting hidden main plot throughout the episodes.

FLCL- No need to explain about this anime since it's just plain awesome!

Tenga Toppa Gurren Lagann- This is only one of the few animes that can emotionally revv up due to its pure awesomeness.

Runner ups (I like them but I got nothing to say to them in details)-
Paranoia Agent
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai 7
Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2nd GIG
Samurai Champloo
One Piece
Persona 4 The Animation
Martian Successor Nadesico

Angel Beats!(This is my #1 favorite show of all time it is only 13 episodes and is on Netflix go watch it now!)

My favorite character of all time...

Clannad/Afterstory (This show turns boys into men.)

FMA Brotherhood

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya/Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya(What can I say? I loved this show minus of course endless eight.)

K-on!(I guess this is probably the anime I am most embarrassed by liking but hey I love the music.)

Durarara! (This show was sooo awesome.)

Puella Magi Madoka Magica-Your magical girl anime up until that moment when the show says "lol shit is about to get real" then it does. Its good to see a mature series in the magical girl genre.

FLCL/Fooly Cooly-It doesn't make a whole lot of sense but it has probably one of the greatest soundtracks in anime and it is a great coming-of-age story.

Death Note~ Was possibly one of the most well thought out and intelligent animes (nay, shows!) that I've ever seen. I could feel suspense building in so many of the scenes. I found the characters to be solid and likeable (perhaps Misa was a little creepy...)
I think the voice acting in English was superb (not sure how many people share that opinion) and really added to the characters.
There wasn't all the 'look! boobies!' fanservice that is seen in many animes, I found it to be quite mature.

Chobits~ One of the most cutest and adorable animes ever. I loved Chii (to the point of cosplaying as her) even though it took her a while to act like an actual person.
I liked the many plot twists and really got lost in the story. Hideki was just the cutest and sweetest guy, a really likeable character.
It was just so cute and made me happy. The ending certainly made me cry.

Lucky Star~ I don't have a clue what was going on sometimes, but it was so random and made me burst out laughing xP

Pokemon~ How can I not mention Pokemon? It raised me!

I don't watch many animes, I suppose it's just finding a good one that isn't all boobs and panty shots :s

You're asking me to pick one favourite?
That's not possible, man.

Clannad
Azumanga daioh
Nichijou
Death note
FLCL
Tengen toppa gurren lagann
5 cm per second
Steins; gate
Usagi drop
Grave of the fireflies

In the end, I guess Clannad (after story) wins out. Why? Because it changed me.
That show hurts so good.

Nodame Cantabile! I will never get sick of that series of quirky characters learning classical orchestra and piano music.

My very favourite anime is Ouran High School Host Club. The characters are very well thought out and the setting is a good spin of the usual high school setting. Making it so that the majority of the cast is basically as rich as Crusoe gives the opportunity for a lots of different places and jokes to be explored in different ways, but making the main character a girl from a much, not poorer but more reasonable background gives an easy straight man to the rest of the casts lavish insanity.

Haruhi is a good character because she just seems very bemused by everything and is easy to identify with as if you were just thrown into a world of excess and opulence after a while you would just have to sit back and let things fold out. Tamaki is a good comic relief as he seems more hyperactive than an 8 year old with a lifetime supply of pixie sticks and comes up with mildly insane schemes that somehow work but his own idiocy is so prevalent that half his lines are intentionally hilarious. plus the fact that he's a half French, half Japanese weeaboo is still funny, at least to me.

Erm, I think I should stop now. I could keep going but wont.

Ouran High School Host Club, hilarious, awesome, go watch it
