I wasn't even aware there was a widespread hatred for her, is there a blog I can check to keep up with the latest hate-bandwagons?

Yea unfortunately hating on Anne is a thing. Though I never heard of the stupid tabloid term "Hathahate" . I've always thought she was super attractive and I liked her in The Devil Wears Prada and loved her Catwoman. She seems to be really cool in interviews too. So who are these people that are hating her and are their lives so uneventful they have to bag on someone they don't even personally know for no good reason? Are these haters other women? To be honest I think it may just be jealousy.

Edit:

This isn't really a thing. People tried to make it a thing, but it never really turned into a thing. To be more specific, people in the paparazzi made it a thing during the Oscars for some reason, but it never spread farther than that.
So it's thing that wasn't really a thing but paparazzi tried to make it a thing? This is why I will never understand a thing about tabloid things.

If I had to venture a guess I'd say it's because she tends to be either the lead role in flawed films. (The Princess diaries) or the most easg to define flaw in a decent to good film.

For an example of the latter just look at DKR. She did a fine job as Catwoman and I have nothing to say against her acting ability or her in general the problem is that the role was flawed.

Catwoman could have been written out of that movie with a flick of the Bat-pen and nobody would be the wiser. She's an albatross around the neck of the whole picture and I think that tends to translate into misguided dislike for the actor herself.

I don't hate her, but I don't pay any attention to her either, so I have no idea what it is about her people might hate.

I never understood the love she got though. In the few movies I've seen with her, she's not a very good actress, and she's not pretty at all. She's pasty and the features of her face (eyes, mouth) are too big for her head. And she usually has a stupid haircut.

I keep hearing that everyone hates her but I've never actually seen it myself. The "Hathahate" thing actually came up in conversation with my friends. Most people, including myself, just thought she's ok. The rest thought she's great. I think it's a thing that's just gotten big for no reason because a few very loud people don't like her.

Unless the person has clearly done something wrong or generally just acts like a complete asshole, I don't get why anyone would just hate someone, regardless of their celebrity status. Makes no sense to me.

Probably just comes down to the fact the people who say they hate celebrity x just don't think that much of them as an actor and thus becomes angered by the fact that they are successful. It's completely subjective of course.

With Anne Hathaway it's pretty simple actually, everyone tends to hate an "it" girl after a while, especially when she's being packaged and churned out so heavily. It should also be noted that her filmography at this point has mostly been a collection of so called "chick flicks" with the occasional serious movie. Things like playing Catwoman in "Dark Knight Rises" and the like are actually the exception for her. Her movies in general have a very specific target audience as opposed to a more broad "mainstream" appeal, especially appeal to *ahem* dudes. Her generally female and
gay audience have largely got tired of her being the "it" girl and diva in just about everything, and with the gays in paticular she's accused of "trying too hard", with her public persona largely being one that seems like an "always on" act whether it is or not, with everything arrayed just-so in order to increase her popularity.

Everyone knows she can act, and honest it might be advisable for her to consider doing more "fun" roles and maybe even sexy ones before she gets too old (she's 30 already) largely directed at the guys, it's not like she has to prove her talent or acting chops. Basically aim at a differant audience and demographic. For the other side of her audience, the women she seems to be generally directed at, it might actually help her image a bit if she wasn't always seen as being so perfect, as dumb as this sounds, a Lindsay Lohan-like trip to rehab or whatever (even a staged one) in her case might garner sympathy or whatever.

Just my opinions. I don't have any paticular dislike of her, but she's only done a few movies I've ever seen or liked.

We've seen similar things on a lower scale (due to being around for less time, and getting less acclaim) with people like Jennifer Garner who was also a heavily promoted "it" girl. Albiet she had a couple of bad Marvel movies, and seemed to get most of her success doing "Alias" on TV (it went on like 5 years, which is a very solid run/career in of itself). She seemed to more or less fade out before things could get truely hot though.

The woman is a monster. Dealing with people like her is the exact reason there's such a thing a Mossad.

Couldn't read the whole NYT article. The examples they brought up seem to be people I've never heard of punching far above their weight class in an attempt to troll (in the fishing sense) for either attention or page views.

I didn't even know there was such a large amount of people who dislike her in particular, especially since there isn't an important reason to do so.

Also, I don't want to be mean but this seems like such a petty and arbitrary subject.

Also, NY Times...

Hehehehe. This made me laugh :) Actually the article says there is a twitter feed instead. This made me laugh some more.

Honestly, I've never heard of this before. 'Hathahate' has a nice ring to it though. Is that why people want it to be a thing? So they can call themselves 'Hathahaters', or simply use it in their articles?

I was going to say something about how I always quite liked her, think she's really good and don't really understand why anyone would hate her but then I saw this... And now my stance is; No! No, you are not allowed to dislike her! She is now, in my books, a complete bad-ass...

I dunno.
You can pretty much just say "people are idiots" and that's about the most explaining that this needs.
Anne Hathaway is awesome and deserves no hate.
