Anonymous and Fox News

I dislike Fox News. Truly, I do. I disagree politically with almost everything they say, I've never viewed their pundits as a fair and balanced representation of the Republican party, and a lot of the times they speak utter bullshit (not to say other news networks don't do this, but that's a separate issue for another topic.) Anyway, my point is, I don't like Fox News.

But I don't like that Anonymous is attacking them.

Anonymous recently announced they were going to attack Fox News and its pundits (Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glen Beck) for their comments regarding the Occupy Wall Street protesters. Again, I disagree with Fox News' stance on the movement, but I will never, EVER endorse a group for attempting to shut down anyone's freedom of speech.

Fox News have a Constitutional right to say whatever they want (within obvious confines) and that goes for their opinion on a divisive political movement. Attacking them for expressing their right to free speech is not only illegal, it's just plainly amoral. Just think about this. If they were attacking blogs who supported the movement because they disagree with it, would you think that would be fair?

Feel free to discuss what you think of this, but please try to keep it civil.

Wait... you hate Fox News for saying bullshit, yet your not okay with people gunning down that same bullshit?

Now, while it is okay to disagree with the movement ( I do agree with the movement, as much stupidity might be running through small parts of it), and legal to bullshit, Fox News does it's regular song and dance of making up lies and petty insults about the movement. It disagrees, but takes it too far.

Thats the thing. Another news network or other guys might disagree with the movement, but most all of them don't make up lies and petty insults about them, and are spared for actually being fair.

Besides, this might also be retaliation for what Fox said about Anonymous a while back.

Anon is opposed to Fox News, not because of their speech, but because of their lies and misinformation. Like I've said on every other thread about Fox, take a shot every time someone lies, twists a quote, or hides facts. Record is 39 minutes.
EDIT: My D key broke. . . added spellcheck.

Think about this, maybe if we leave Fox and Anon to kill each other they'll wipe each other out! Two plagues on society dealt with for the price of one!

They have a right to take it too far, that's kind of the point. Believe me, I would gladly kick every Neo-Nazi out of this country if I could but at the end of the day they still have a right to be here and express their malevolent message. Freedom of speech is a double edged sword, you take the bad with the good.

And hey, the way I see it, Fox News has been a perfect example for me of "How NOT to do Journalism"

Again, all covered under freedom of speech. They still don't have the right to silence them, as much as I agree with your sentiment.

Uh, sorry to be "that guy", but i do have to get this out of the way. It might be amoral to block free speech, but it isn't illegal. Free speech is guaranteed under the rule of the constitution and government, AKA: the government may not infringe on free speech, however people may. Just getting that out of the way.

Second: I do agree with you that both parties are not really very positive in their effects on the world, however I do sympathize with Anonymouse's call. The reason is that they represent the opposite ends of the social spectrum. Fox News represents conservative, ultra-nationalistic (the non good kind), evangelical side of the spectrum. While Anon represents the more anarchic, freedom perusing side of the spectrum. Anon damages people by just doing damage to electronics (usually web sites, but sometimes also more damaging methods), while Fox damages people by using propaganda, hateful speech, and flat out lying. By those past 2 statements you can assume who dislike more. I don't blame Anon, I'm really only surprised they haven't tried this earlier.

That's right, that's what we both said.

Yup, Fox News and the NeoNazis deserve bad things and all, but in America, that can't be dooled out. It just seems to depend on how far you feel freedom of speech goes that leads to these situations, with Anonymous saying the buck stops here, even though everything is covered.

THat's not what Anonymous does. What Anonymous does is publish the home adress and places where the children of someone go to school. What they do is force people to spend their hard-earned money to have their websites repaired. All their activities can best be described as 'cyber vandalism'.

Before the invention of the internet, Anonymous would have been two 15 year old boys throwing a rock through a window at the head office of Fox because they 'hate' it, running away giggling, and thinking they're good people for doing that.
That is true. I never actually said I suported Anon, but I do not support bullshit either, legal as it is. So, no cheers to Anon for their operation, just interest to see what goes down, then we pick up the pieces.

Fox isn't the only news group with their facts wrong. Any news group tends to put their own spin or give misinformation to prove their biases. If Anonymous is attacking Fox strictly for 'misinformation' then they'll be one busy group taking on every other news group out there...
