I'm torn about Anonymous. Either they're being complete dicks (like PSN, which I'm pretty sure they had a hand in, posting porn to that kid who started the no-cussing club) or being complete dicks BUT towards things I don't like, e.g. Scientologists or FaceBook.

I'll just sit on the fence on this one (and boy, this fence sure is uncomfortable!).

why don't they try and take out Farmville?
seriously, FUCK Anonymous. like all "hacktivists", they become internet tough guys to make up for the fact that they can't intimidate ANYONE in real life. the ONLY thing I've ever supported them on is when they took on the WBBC, and that's because those people are pure, concentrated human filth.

Whatever, bro. I'm not on facebook because I will not give my personal info to people who don't care about privacy by their own admissions.
than why are you here? granted its not as much as facebook, but i bet this site could be far more easily hacked than facebook. facebook actually has extreme anti hack defenses, this is not like the play station network. they keep info, but go through great length to protect it.

hell, lulzsec tried to take on facebook, and admitted almost imidtally it was far to hard.

This is not a matter of them "caring" because they actually do, the argument here is that they have to much information. If your going to hate on something, hate it for the right reasons at least, yeesh.
Um, because the escapist at least pretends to care about my privacy? Because I never had any personal info up on here, and removed it the first time the escapist got invaded by 4chan a long time ago? I could get hacked, sure. Would they get any info off me? Maybe, maybe not. Facebook, on the other hand... Even if I'm totally anonymous, just by friending people who aren't I expose myself to losing a bunch of personal information. Without having NO friends or not using facebook, there are real-life implications to being hacked on FB that are probably worse than getting hacked on some forum.

The problem with facebook is even non-users are impacted. Thanks to family and friends, my rl photo, approximate age, gender and full name are floating around under Zuckerberg's thumb, and I don't even use the website!

I don't support hacking it, but I'm not a big facebook fan. Oh sure, they protect the info from everyone, except the people who they really should protect that personal info from: themselves. Zuckerberg is quoted as saying he can't believe people trust him with their info, that he has no respect for privacy and (I think) that he'll do what he wants with the information.

Anonymous reminds me of those underground rebel groups in dystopian futuristic movies. Does anyone else get that vibe? Especially the motto at the end of the video, "We are Anonymous. We are legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us." and the whole coordinated attacks thing. Sorry if this has already been said, by the way.

...I'm okay with this.

Maybe if Facebook is burned to the ground I'll have more incentive to check out google+

Plus I was never comfortable with the whole idea of selling our personal information.

are these just the kids who have no friends and must take action against social networking because of the aforementioned?

seriously. Why do they think they can bring down an entity that has more lunch money than possibly every person involved in the group. FB is GARGANTUAN lol :)good luck morons.
Lots of money does not make them impervious to hacking.
And seriously. Do you really think that they are kids?
Morons

OT: I think it would be interesting to see all the folks without their FB. I'm not sure how Anon formally announces their future intents, sos I'm taking this with a grain of salt.... but it would be cool!

In the video they make it sound kinda like they're fighting the cause of "the little guy" - all the wronged Facebook users. Well, being a Facebook user I can safely say they're not fighting my cause. I don't have any information on there that I can recognize as useful for any third parties. Government agencies? I guess I'm more of a Bond villain that I thought I was...

So why make it sound like they're some kind of valiant knights? And why the pompous attitude at the end? It's like going on a crusade, knowing that God doesn't want you to.

I think I 100% support this. Facebook is an evil addiction and everyone should go through an immediate forced detox.

Plus I find Anonymous amusing so GO FOR IT!!!

It's going to get DDoSed for a few hours then it'll be back.

It's Anon we're talking about, I won't be surprised if nothing happens.

Come on, so much Anon crap going on for months now, and there's still this many people who don't even understand what 'Anonymous' is?
You can't treat them as a group of like-minded people.
Hell, you can't even treat them as a group.
They are just a shitload of people that's barely unified by a single idea.
Other than that, Anonymous is pure chaos.

Good luck with that anonymous. I'm pretty sure you're not even big enough to take out facebook.
I hope they have seven different proxies...

Oh, herp derp, look at me, I hate Facebook, that must mean I'm so original and clever because no one else has ever done that before, nope!

Seriously guys, I don't have a problem with the people who simply don't care for it, but a few of you have officially won the internet pretentiousness award for the week, congratulations!

As for Anon, all they've done is demonstrate themselves as the group of cyber-terrorists they are. Ideologically, they're not different from the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States, Al-Quedia, the IRA, the Nazi party, the Communist party, almost any socio-political group, militia, or terrorist group in history. Going on about how great personal freedom is while doing everything in their power to take it from you.

I'm reminded of the gay marriage debate - you're all familiar with the "don't like gay marriage, don't get one!" saying? How about, "don't like Facebook, don't use it!"?

Hey, that's the day after my birthday.

Well, I'm really, really tired of these people who think corporation is a synonym for corrupt and evil, and that causing a small inconvenience can somehow change the world. The only thing they'll get out of this is attention, and more hate from the (few) people with common sense.
Yeah what's going to happen to all of our "happy birthday" wall posts?

If you're willing to post personal information on a website, then you should be prepared for the risks involved. Simple as that. Do I think Anonymous can bring the site down? Who can say for sure. Ultimately, I think the worst thing they can do is destroy the site completely. No one is going to care if they get spammed because it happens all the time, and maybe some information will go to places it shouldn't. But it's not like anyone posts bank accounts or social security on their Facebook pages so it isn't like they're benefiting financially from it.
