I always stood up for Anon, but this seems... like a bad move. They'll be losing alot of support from the people that like Facebook (and that's a ton o' people). I mean, at least I think that Anon is considered "good" because it stands up for the population and helps pass the message that abusive corporations won't get away with their acts. Still, I'll be looking forward to it after hearing the message (I am certain they tell the truth).

I agree... I don't really understand the point. -.- Just like I didn't understand Lulzsec (excuse the misspelling, if I have) hacking into somewhere like Bethesda Softworks, either.
I love how people supported them until they became victims themselves, never liked hackers in any way, shape or form.
I never liked them either. I don't like the idea, personally. Targeting sources online to try and make a difference and overall just being a nuisance? Is that really the way to gain the support of the people? I don't much think so.

Good luck with that anonymous. I'm pretty sure you're not even big enough to take out facebook.
I'm pretty sure there was a thread about this months ago, hasn't happened yet. I'm not worried about it, facebook would be pretty hard to kill.

Oh for fucks sake, can't people just let people enjoy what they enjoy. I like using facebook, means I can keep up with people who live in different countries, I talk to people in America, Canada, Australia.

Take down twitter, that's fucking useless. Making short little comments, promotes stalking, it's just weird.

Sorry for the use of a smiley but....

-.-'
they dont fuck with twitter because they use it
Oh, I get it.

"DOWN WITH SOCIAL NETWORK SITES!"

"YEAH, FUCK FACEBOOK AND TWITTER!"

"YEAH! ... Wait, no ... we use twitter. Just facebook...".

Fucking morons. This is why I can't get behind anon, they dick about with useless bollocks like this, how is this going to further there cause? Pissing off the very people they want to "recruit".....

So they are doing us a favor by limiting our freedom of social networking? Isn't that the opposite of what they say they want? Idiotic twats who have watched too many movies.

I hope they don't as it's a useful way to contact people. Facebook can be a reasonably useful tool and I don't really see why they would get rid of it.
Sometimes I support anon, it's times like this that I don't, also I get the feeling that it isn't actually anon, it seems slightly flashy for them.
You know it's probably not them, right?
Firstly,Anon usually has a reason for hacking I.E. Defending internet freedom.
Second, You can't believe anyone but Anonymous on what they're planning to do,because everyone is looking for attention and a scapegoat.
and finally, Anonymous never permanently takes down a website,it's usually just a DDoS with a message attached as a warning, while they CAN,they don't.

Which is why I said that I didn't think it was actually them. At least not the usual suspects, anyone can call themselves anon as the point of it is that it's anonymous and have an incredibly wide reach.

Well, I won't be shedding many tears, this way people can start using something that doesn't have such disregard for personal privacy. It will be great for the market and entrepreneurialism.

I can't seem to find anything confirming that this is an official Anonymous operation.
Any help?

Sounds like a good idea to me, I and my friends are all somewhat addicted to facebook. Most people I know even go on their phones when out in public to check facebook.

Maybe this will help us get over facebook addiction hahaha.

It's a bold move to tell facebook when it going down, they might beef up internet security.

...You hate an undefined group of people, pursuing freedom of information?
There are anons doing good stuff; these aren't one of them.
Wait what are they doing good? Every time I see something they are taking stuff down and interrupting everyone elses day because they are pissy bitches.

I honestly thing this is stupid and I can't wait for the day that they disband. Or are arrested.
Well, they were fighting the credit card companies that dropped Julian Assange (wikileaks guy) and were trying to keep their servers down to force them to take them back and at least make a statement. They also have normal complete non-asshole protests on things like the "The Protecting Children from Internet Pornographers Act of 2011." But their whole idea is to shock large groups and the government into being treated fairly. Sometimes they try to use force (if a credit card company cant serve anyone, they'll HAVE to do what Anonymous says, or risk losing all their customers) to get what they want and step on a few people, but everything ends up better in the end...then there are the assholes in question that like just messing with people.

I might have believed this if it weren't for the fact that...

Original video was posted on 16th of July, not a word anywhere else on the net about it.
Also, their only tweet on their supposed Twitter account is from the same date, the 16th of July 2011. So my conclusion is that this is just someone trying to ride the coattails of Anonymous.

As another side note, I don't use Facebook, so this wouldn't affect me at all.

EDIT: Also, Facebook is a social network. Social networks are the fastest way for information to travel, and Anonymous fully supports any amount of freely flowing information.

Wait Julian Asange is supposed to be a positive in this argument? That guy is mild scum as far as I'm concerned. But OT, there is no victimless crime. As such, their attempts to "fix things" just end up screwing over a whole bunch of people. If they are anything, they are internet bullies, internet mafia, internet yakuza, what have you. I wasn't aware of them protecting children and what not but if they are such good hackers, why not hack the porn sites, and send their info to authorities?
