From Dtoid: http://www.destructoid.com/anonymous-big-surprises-coming-for-sony-198235.phtml?s=50#comments

Depending on who you are, Anonymous is a righteous freedom fighter or an online terrorist group. Either way, Sony is in the organization's sights for its civil suits against PS3 hackers, and it would appear that the gathering of personal info and takedown of PSN is only a taster.

"So far, all Sony has seen from us is poking and prodding," claimed the group. "A simple salute to let them know we?re coming. Make no mistake, what you saw today and thought to be frustration is merely preparation for what?s to come. We said, expect us. Counting us out would be a mistake."

Anonymous' attacks on the PlayStation Network have earned backlash from gamers, something that the group acknowledges: "The consumers in this are as one might call, collateral damage. We are very cognisant of the fact that we are not making friends nor allies among the average consumer with our attack. This is unfortunate as a concern should always be, will the very people we seek to support not see what it is we are trying to achieve."

"In this case, many don?t. There has been a lot of hate spread throughout the internet and over forums that we are being reckless and simply punishing consumers more than Sony. To the consumers I would say: before you judge us, take the time to understand us."

----------------------------------------------

No matter who side you're taking in the court case, this is pretty stupid.

Man, this is tiresome. Anonymous is at its best when it acts quickly and silently. All this pretentious revolutionary soapboxing is somehow even more obnoxious than the hacking itself.

Wow. Thats a BIG amout of collateral damage just to help out a few thousand people. I want to play my Socom 4 beta, but these "freedom fighters" aren't helping their cause. To the average gamer, they are just pissing them off. I understand what they are trying to achieve and I support them, but they are ruining alot of peoples free time with this stunt. Before they take down PSN, they should have considered what would happen. Besides, I thought they said they COULD go after the gamers, but they won't.

I'm a bit pissed myself, about PSN I mean. I don't really play that much online; but my girlfrend and I use the chat lobbies so we can talk to each other as we fall asleep, it's a ***** to without it.

I hope it's over soon though.

The whole take your top off thing wasnt why they anon messed her up, its standard procedure that you show up on /b/ you show tits, Anywho.... she was a lying, annoying, self centered camwhore and she just so happened to piss off the wrong people, when your already disliked by 4chan you DONT give anon a reason..

Anonymous is a righteous freedom fighter or an online terrorist group...

Meh, they are good for my afternoon chuckle. Beyond that I dont really care, they are getting a bit of a nuisance, but terrorist group is to take it far.

Also: I am all for messing with sony. So.. Haw-Haw!

Does Anon actually have an end goal for any of their actions? I mean, do they honestly think hacking Sony is going to do anything besides piss people off and trigger some more law suits?

Hmmmm, personally I don't take kindly to being considered "collateral damage". People who play on PSN don't neccesarilly enjoy losing the ability to play online games on the system we bought to PLAY GAMES ON!

If it bothers them that much, then they can go find an old PS3 and install your other OS, or whatever the hell it is they're trying to do. I really don't give a shit, just don't go using it to ruin my gaming experience by screwing with PSN.

This strikes me as akin to trade unions claiming they're trying to cause as little disruption as possible when they call strikes. Come off it, causing as much disruption as possible is exactly what a strike is supposed to do!

This makes me uncomfortable. I DO agree with them on their stance they're taking but I hate being inconvenienced. It's a double edged sword I suppose.

"Anonymous is a righteous freedom fighter or an online terrorist group"

Anonymous is neither of those things.

On the one hand I feel like ranting for 15 pages about how Anonymous can suck it with their self righteous babble about inconsequential crap like this while at the same time harrassing little girls (Remember the 11 year old they brought to tears last year? You know, the one that refused to take her top off, who they then harrased until that admittedly funny video of her dad yelling got to youtube?) and sharing child pornography.

On the other hand, I fear one of the lunatics might see it and, even though I'm careful about this stuff, find my personal information and proceed to fuck me over in many many ways.

So yea. My vote is on online terrorists. Self important perverted wankers, fighting for causes nobody asked them to champion, and acting as though we should be grateful they're making the entire internet look like a bunch of overreacting overzealous anarchistic twats.
Anonymous don't give a shit about you.
Not unless you're going to provide them with much lulz.

Ugh, I've been behind Anon before but fucking PSN for everybody just for that tiny niche of people who want to mod their consoles and the only good guys being the tiny niche inside that niche that won't do it for piracy? They're in the wrong here. Go Sony. Take that Geohotz prick down.

Lol, that quote made me cringe. Anonymous are fucking corny. I like it better when they do shit and don't say anything. If they speak you just get cheesy pretentious crap like that. I'd like to say they're not all cliché gamers that wear overcoats, fedoras and listen to death metal, but that's all I see now, it's kinda cewt.
