No they won't.

You hear this shit all the time and it never bloody happens. Weren't people saying they were gonna take down the entire fucking internet at one point?
Well, they actually had a good plan (taking out html access), but of course that fell through somewhere...

Anyway, I'll see it before I believe it. While it would be nice to imagine Mark Zuckerberg crapping his pants with his guys running around in the server room trying to figure out what happened, pseudo-Anonymous guys have been threatening this over and over for the past 2 years.

Oh Anonymous, when will you ever take down facebook? They said this last year. It didn't happen. It won't ever happen. If it does I will eat my own nonexistent hat.

People who make threats won't do a thing. Because they want you to be scared of them and acts like a bully. Also, the creator of Facebook use to hack things too, so I'm sure he got his bases covered and made his own security system.

Though if this guy does... well... good thing I don't have a Facebook or rely on it. :D

Again? Yippee.
Nah. They said they were going to do this last year and they didn't. I won't believe it until I can't access the site anymore.

My sister on Facebook just slows down the internet in my house, if anything I'll be glad. I don't use it except to share random pictures.

What, are you on dial up? :p

Facebook is usually one of the snappier sites, and it doesn't exactly take up much bandwidth to periodically refresh a page. It's got more in common with Wikipedia than Youtube on that front.

It's post like these where I wish I could just type lol and get away with it.
Aye, I also felt the definite temptation to merely post "again?", and leave it at that.

So this anon thing is still around? They have never done anything worth a damn and i highly doubt that they will do anything now. Shutting down small insignificant websites that nobody really cares about is the extent of their tricks.

Or will they do the internet equivalent of throwing a brick through a window and running away like they always do?
This is exactly what they're going to do. That's how it always plays out and everybody just slaps a bandage on the wound and it heals up and gets forgotten in a couple days. I have a hard time taking Anon seriously nowadays because all they really are, are a bunch of pranksters. Not really any kind of genuine threat.

So the translation to this pretty much being "we will overload the site for a couple of hours at most and do absolutely nothing else"

Oh, Anonymous. I remember when you used to actually acomplish things.

I'm pretty sure they claimed they were going to take down Facebook last year and it didn't happen then, so I'm going to have to see it before I believe it. Since Anonymous doesn't have a central authority any attention-seekers can make grandiose claims without the resources or skill to back it up.
I still remember when they claimed they were going to take down the entire internet. Seems they've just been attention whoring, lately. "Crap, people are starting to forget about us. Quickly, we need to make some grand claim to get people talking about us again!"

Can't anyone one just claim themselves to be a member of Anonymous?

But yeah, whether this was a twelve year old trying to act cool, or an actual... 'serious' threat, nothing is going to happen. They're all hot air.

If anything actually does happen (that'll be the day!), it'll be reversed in like ten minutes at the most.

Well, it would be pretty annoying considering Facebook is good for rallying before Elections.

Not that I necessarily believe this is going to happen.

Nope, it just constantly sends out requests for one thing because she keeps scrolling down, Facebook is actually quite slow in my house. And no I'm not on Dial-up, haven't been since they invented high-speed, just a really bad modem that my parents won't replace :p. That's all. Keep in mind when I say slow down, I mean a very small drop in speed, only about a 100.0 kb/s. I actually slow her down with how much I do, (torrents, games, teamspeak etc.)

Remember that time anonymous said they'd take down the entire internet by attacking DNS servers?

Yeah.

Clearly anonymous thinks that because they've done some script-kiddy level attacks against a few organizations that really should have better security systems and harassed one or two "celebrities", they're the best thing since sliced bread. The fact is most of their members don't have any real hacking skills (remember kids, calling DDOS "hacking" is like called a queue at the post office "bank robbery"), and there's pretty much zero organization behind those who do. I'd quite confidently bet a few hundred quid this attack doesn't materialize.

I'd say that's more thanks to the movie than the book. The book doesn't try to deliberately paint V as a hero after all. But, I'm not going to start an argument over individual quality, I'm just saying.
Don't be ridiculous. They probably don't even know there was a comic book first.
