"Anonymous", or basically /b/tard raiders are the type of people who believe in freedom of speech so strongly that they try to say the most offensive things possible on a constant basis, and when criticized for it, they defend doing it because "freedom of speech is the most precious thing". One gets the feeling they can't sleep at night if they don't spend at least 7 hours a day engaging in hate speech.
Well, I'm glad to see someone who agrees with me. People hacking is ILLEGAL! I don't give a shit if they support SOPA, if you attack people for what they believe in, then you CANNOT claim the moral high ground. Anon is just a bunch of assholes and criminals, they're not fucking batman people,
Seriously, if you support people's privacy being invaded can you really claim that you're better than the people that want SOPA passed...no, no you fucking can't.
You're forgetting that the media people behind SOPA have done A LOT of crime, did you know Chris Dodd tried to blackmail the president about SOPA by saying if he continued his actions he would not pay for any more political contributions? There is a petition that has had a few thousand signatures at the whitehouse's website to investigate him and apparently they are going to now. While anonymous may be going too far, the people they are attacking are no cleaner. There have been TONS of things that these people pushing the bill have done illegally but because they have the money to throw at people they can weasel their ways out of it. Don't believe me? Look it up a little, there is a ton of evidence. They are doing things more illegal than Anonymous is right now. Both groups are going too far.
This is the expected reaction. But really, Anom is going to push SOPA through by rallying against it now that it's dead. Making the bill a necessity isn't going to prevent it from getting passed.
The more incentive you give these companies to protect themselves and their products the more they will pay to see it happen. If you don't think money buys votes ask a friend what a lobbyist is. I want to stop SOPA just as much as everyone on this forum, but I know that the best way to do it would be by stopping online piracy with a bill that doesn't destroy our civil liberties.
Building this bill will take time and experts, not rich companies who want a solution immediately.
Because companies were doing underhanded things to take over the internet? So they're fighting back? Yes it was defeated but does that really change that these politicians and bribers should be let off the hook?
The companies who said they needed SOPA now have the US government taking shit down FOR them, I don't think any of it is over. They tried to take the internet over just to make more money, and the bill would have put just about every small business at risk and a lot of websites as well. These companies are going to need to get punched in the face a few times before they learn to stay down and stop fucking with peoples freedom.
They deserve it, they deserve it for being ignorant, trying to step on people and for just underhanded downright evil tactics.
As you are trolling us right now anon is trolling the trolls who troll internets, and I presume you are posting this outside 4chan because you don't like to be counter trolled.
It's rather funny how you call them terrorists.
You are obviously watching Fox News to much.
Just look at the situation from this side.
When rebels in Libya where fighting for their idea of freedom, Libyan media supporting the active regime called those rebels terrorists. The western media called them freedom fighters or revolutionists.
But when rebels in the USA fight for their idea of freedom, the USA media calls those rebels terrorists. The internet calls them freedom fighters or revolutionists. I call them Anonymous
Do you notice a pattern here or are you just to ignorant to see?
Actually I am informed enough to see the pattern is incorrect.
To be considered terrorism, "the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion" must be present.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/terrorism
The rebels in Libya were called terrorists because the media was controlled by the dictator. While they were only using armed combat to overthrow a dictatorship.
Annon has been called terrorist on many occasions. They then prove that they deserve that title when they hack people's personal information and distribute it on the net. In essence using fear to crush those who stand, or who are thinking of standing, against them. IE Dana White.
While I don't think it was MADE to censor the net, I know that private corporations could use it for such a purpose.
Anon is just showing those guys why it's bad to do that. How to show them so that they will understand for sure? Trusting them when they say they understand surely isn't a good solution?
Did you came up with anything?
Take your time... it's not really that hard?
Still didn't get any idea?
If you want some more time to think, just don't open the spoiler. But if you want to read the best way to show them why SOPA and co. are bad bills, read the spoiler.
Censor them back. Once they are heavily censored, they will see why everyone with at least half a brain is against SOPA.
Really? I must have missed the part in SOPA that gave the censor the right to divulge all of my personal info.... Maybe you are thinking about censors in general.
1: a person who supervises conduct and morals: as
a: an official who examines materials (as publications or films) for objectionable matter
b: an official (as in time of war) who reads communications (as letters) and deletes material considered sensitive or harmful
2: one of two magistrates of early Rome acting as census takers, assessors, and inspectors of morals and conduct
3: a hypothetical psychic agency that represses unacceptable notions before they reach consciousness

No.... Still not seeing it. You might have made a point if they blocked webpages related to their targets, or blocked their targets from getting on the web at all.
So you're saying that if you have no legal way to fight for your rights, you should just give up your rights and do as you're said?
If you believe that you, as an individual, have no legal recourse to bills of this nature then you are part of the problem. Your legal recourse is to legally let your representatives know you don't support the bill(s), if they still vote for it/ them then you vote for someone else to take his/ her position, if need be you take a case to the supreme court to argue the constitutionality of the then law.
Annon is breaking the law "in protest" because they don't want to do things the right way. That is simply laziness, cowardice, and criminal behavior..... Nothing more.
Now a question for you.
If Annon is the champion of free speech than why are they attacking those who openly support SOPA or openly condemn Annon through speech alone? Hypocrisy much?
we are going to have crime barons offering unrestricted internet in underground net cafes?
Onto the anon thingy. While I do like some of the ideals of the induvidials in anon I have to say that I can not see how their way of doing things is actually going to stop it.
For example if they attack a goverment site then in would probably not be a big deal, it is not like there are that many times the beuracracy needs their site to push paper and it is even worse if they actually get something done that could hurt the backers of it. Then they are going to be branded terrorists faster then you can find the definition for the word and boom, new patriot act for the internets, cause terrorism have to be faught by any means!
Instead write to your congressman or even better, get your neighbourhood to write to your congressman. Tell your neighbours that if something like it goes through then youtube will disappear, that will get them scared. Form grassrot movements, there is plenty support, demonstrate and protest, simply use your vote as leverage. And if everything fails and it gets passed then man the barricades and wave the american flag while demanding to truly be ruled by populear sovereignty. The french did it (over and over again, it is like a national sport), why should not you?!
I can't say I support their methods but I support their goals. They are fighting back (in their way) against congress that is trying to bully not just America but the world. SOPA and PIPA are dead for now but already there's another bullshit law being discussed and there will be many many more after that. The public is mostly unaware of this so Anon steps in to both alert them and to screw over the ones trying to screw over the public. They fight for people like us. They may be jsut doing it for laughs or for their own gain but either way I support that because without rebels like them the world is run by those in power and right now they're looking pretty corrupt.

1st: It is not easy at all to repeal a law that has already passed or undo damage caused by said law (making slapping illegal then legal again doesn't always result in someone getting 10 years in jail for it being let out)
2nd: Do you honestly believe that any politician will ever make good on all their campaign promises. Do you honestly think voting in a different person has that much effect. The best it does is bring in new ideas but it would take more than a handful of new members and a 90% majority of voters before they will truly listen.
Peaceful protests used to work, but these days it has lost it's sting in the eyes of politicians and is now just considered an annoyance (see the global Occupy protests). Politicans enter politics to be political. Very few get that far without saying (just saying) things to please people then doing things to please a seperate set.
I should note I am a bit of pessimist when it comes to politics, but I have seen many many politicians never get close to some key campaign promises and even go in the opposite direction to them. The world it not that perfect in my eyes.
Does this make attacks and violent protests right, NO. They should rightly stay illegal, so people only use them as a final option and so they retain their sting.
I haven't agreed with, nor do I respect Anon when it comes to how they do things
For example shutting down the PSN, it pissed a lot of people off, and didn't have the effect of making them think "Oh Hey Sony's fault for sewing pirates" no they thought these anon guys are dicks
They might not have hacked the PSN as they stated, but still threatening it gave this effect
But I wouldn't go as far as calling them terrorists, that just makes no sense
also many of your questions are flawed but I see about everyone in the thread has already mentioned that so I won't rabble.
Too lazy to read the whole thread. Yes, all two pages of it. So here is my response to the OP.
Anonymous is now, and always will be, a loose assortment of random internet users. It isn't some sort of secret organization. It doesn't have any sort of real agenda. It just IS. Saying you are opposed to anonymous is like saying you are opposed to people. There is a reason why, when anyone runs an Anon video, they claim to be legion. Anonymous is just the will of the collective souls on the internet put to motion. Yeah they're dicks, but that's because people are dicks.
Amusing people call what Anon do Violent Protest and Attacks. If i could reach out through the screen and strangle some commenters i would, but i can't. Anon follows these rules of physics, be thankful for that before you talk tripe.
