I also wouldn't mind an original Deus Es remake.

I got the original and just couldn't get through it, call me a heretic, but maybe a fresh coat of paint and playability with a controller is just what I need.

Let it be known, I'm not trash talkin' ol' Deus Ex, it's a good game, it's just different from what I'm used to, a wee tad more accessible and I can get through it.

Don't feel too bad about not being able to play through it, it looked like ass even when I played it back in the day. I couldn't imagine picking it up again now.

I think you're right, it's been long enough that it needs a updated remake to get the people who haven't played it and can't into those terrible graphics to give it a go.

It's not the graphics, I honestly don't mind visuals in a game too much although an update would be nice, it's the playibility. The open-endedness of the levels are astounding, "here's your mission, complete it however you can," that's great, but I'm a somewhat casual gamer, that freedom just ends up with me getting a little overwhelmed, knowing the path of least resistance would be wonderful, just a little bit of hand-holding, that's all I'm sayin'.
That mixed with the fact that the game's a little hard and I'm a dirty console peasant who barely knows how to use a mouse and keyboard, which I think is the very reason I wanted to find the easy route, it's not great.

The game's great, truly, I can tell, I want to enjoy it, there's just a couple of obstacles that pop up when you're a filthy casual like me.

Let me guess: Square Enix has shared rights for Deus Ex IP with Konami and soon we'll see a Deus Ex pachinko machine.

I'm guessing The Fall episode 2. A lot of people crapped on it (and rightly so for the PC port) but it was a fun little mobile title, wouldn't mind seeing the story continued. That or Human Revolution is getting a lazy HD port for current gen.

As other have said I'd like to see a remake of the first as its gameplay hasn't aged well. I have that free remake mod for it but that's mainly visual.

Ah, I wonder if we're finally going to see what Jim was talking about on the Jimquisition. He mentioned that SE had been looking to split Deus Ex: Mankind Divided into a "Mass Effect style trilogy". Looking forward to seeing if he's right.

Even Human Revolution didn't hold your hand to the extent you describe. The fun of Deus Ex is exploration. You do things the way you want, then you go backwards and make sure everything is dead and unconscious so you can find out on all the other approaches you could have taken but didn't. Also for all the loot that you will never need cause you stealth kill everything efficiently with little use of ammunition or hardware. But you must have your pin point accurate super buzzsaw machinegun.

And there's a lot of more legit things that need an update in DX. Like the combat AI for instance was bloody atrocious. And having stupid ass skills like Swimming. And offering you the choice between a Sniper Rifle, Crossbow and Rocket Launcher at the start when the very same level has two of those things.

Just to nitpick, the Sabot shotgun rounds fired a spread of shot. Sabot... shot? Sense not really made.

I also never understood why the cameras in that game were so bloody tough. Granted it would've dulled the challenge if you could just silence pistol the lot of them.

A remake of the game will likely need the environments trimmed down a fair bit, just due to how massive they were back in the day. If only to reduce development costs. And I think Hong Kong could use a bit of trimming to be fair. Like yeah its nice that I can go swimming down in the river and find shit, but the game wouldn't lose much with some of that trimmed off.

That's it, I think you just nailed exactly what I want, I just couldn't find a way to say it very well.
Some trimming of the fat, not a lot, just a little, and some strengthening of what's left.

And I don't know, I understood Human Revolution a lot better than the original; it seemed more streamlined, maybe it was the waypoints and if that's the case, gimme some waypoints.

I actually liked The Fall, so it'd be cool to see that again.

But I'd love for a remasetering of Deus Ex 1 and Invisible War (Though IW doesn't really need it) to bring them to the current gen.
