Alright first off i'd like to say i'm sorry for creating a NEW topic on the issue but I've held off for a week and just cant help but have the need to vent and have someone listen. Also I'm sure your all going to say we have already heard this from others, some of it I have heard from others, some I havn't and if you find a hole in my logic feel free to point it out I AM willing to listen to logic. So that said my perspective:
Indoctrination Theory, do I belive it? Yes. At first I only believed it because I was in denial, now with many legitamte reasonings it seems mostly possible, was this Bioware's intention? I dont know, but it's what I'm believing so That I can look at the series in a similar way to the way I used to.
IF... the indoctrination theory was bioware's intention my problem is this, they did a poor job of explaining it and if shepard wakes up like in my playthrough, there is still a war to be finished and the reapers have nothing left but hope... the open ending just doesn't feel right to me in a series where my choices deserve to be concluded in a way that I can know: "Did I do the right thing?".... If i didn't make the right choices, the game has made a real life acheivment, It has educated me, ofcourse for this to matter there needs to be a good ending so I can say, I DID make the right choices, and now I will be rewarded for it.
Another problem I have is we as customers have been cheated out of a true ending, even if shepard wakes up from indoctrination, what has happened to shepard, this was promised to be his last game, When I have invested around 100hrs (Per playthrough) the chacters choices were my choices and so I am a part of the character, he deserves an ending, for good or bad.
Which brings me to a new point which I will end on before this goes forever, People are complaining the ending was too grim, I on the other hand think that some stories cant have a happy ending, I think mass effect could have had the grim ending it strived for, yet still allow room for good if you made the right choices, such as an ending where the reapers wipe out all sentient life. The reapers take heavy casualties aswell and were focused on survival rather than capturing all life and making new reapers they just destroyed most, the time capsules liara created warn the next cycle of the reapers and gives the new cycle a fighting chance. This could even open up for a new trilogy with a new hero.(A shepard of the new cycle prehaps)
Anyway thanks for reading, please post any opinions or point out flaws you have with my ideas.
