[b:]"You have to be kidding me!"[/b] was my reaction when i learned of "metroid Other M" for the Nintendo Wii, which looks like if Samus aran and Ryu Hayabusa had a child.

I think its a good couple... How about you?

[img:]http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/989/989474/metroid-other-m-20090602111626736.jpg[/img]

the main problem i am having with the game dough is the [b:]Graphics[/b] since metroid prime 3 could go hand in hand with halo 2. Us wii owners are not big graphic whores but if an older game had better graphics then this game might be going for more enemies/scenery on screen.

I just hope they go back to formula after this. Yes they are gonna make a hack and slash with no sword pretty much and because its [b:]Team Nija[/b] expect it to lack the Easy setting. this game just really got me by surprise, and i really like the premises since i love ninja gaiden and metroid but I'm just scared that the metroid i know and love would be gone for ever, because of today's audience this type of metroid might sell more due to the popularity of badassery on games.

Minor knit pick dough. WTH is "other M" supposed to mean? another samus AGAIN? i really really hope not. Sa-X and Dark Samus where enough accidental samus clones.

Why would "Other M" imply another Samus? "Other S", maybe, but I suspect it's going to have something to do with Mother Brain, or the Metroids.

Now then. Retro Studios has already said that they are interested in making a game based on the Metroid Prime formula. Samus ain't gone. Personally, I think this is one of those "changes" that people are always bitching about. And look, now that you've got Nintendo trying to change, you're bitching at them FOR changing.

Fucking multiple-personalities, am I right?

No this is not a change this is an overhaul. Also again its team nija if samus ever has to take her suit off i bet she will have amazing breast physics. As i said i like the mix but if this sells like hotcakes then it will mean that the old formula is gonna be "Overrated" and "dated". well, they might be right, nostalgia is a mouth full of balls and I might be speaking with that now.

I remember when Metroid Prime was announced, and everyone freaked out that they were 'going FPS' with that series. As it turned out, MP ended up as one of the highest rated games ever.

Metroid is one of the few series' that have never, in my opiion, made a bad game so I'm willing to check out whatever they have to offer.

I'm surprised that no one has said that this is old news yet.

At any rate, it looks like it could be fun if it is done right, but I doubt it.

I'm getting it, no doubt.

And about the whole change thing, no-one can do it right.

No new game = fanboy tears
No changes = unorriginal, milking a dead cow etc.
Smaller changes = useless gimmics (zelda for instance)
Bigger changes = ruining the game, oh noes! (this)

So no matter what they do, people will whine/rant and be unhappy, so basicly they should just screw people and do what they want, since people in these cases are usually a whiny minority.

Sir, you have uncommonly good sense.

Whoa... wait, you're pissed? Why? What for? Did you not notice the line, "Any objections, Lady?" I get chills just hearing that awesomeness. I look forward to it one hundred percent. They're not just going to keep releasing Metroid Prime, you know.

This. There's always going to be that small group of gamers that hates everything, even if the game ends up being as fun (if not more fun) as the last game was. It's always a shame to see developers trying to cater to that group when it's obvious that they'll never be happy.

Just need to quote this again, and bask in it's glow. Love everything about it.

I'm very excited for Metroid: Other M. I love playing the old Metroid games, and this looks to make the action a bit more exciting.

To be honest, though, I am a tiny bit skeptical. I was one of the few that did not enjoy Metroid Prime, so I guess I'm skeptical because it's supposed to be a brand new direction story-wise. I'll at least give it a try, though. I'm not that stubborn.

Why did your opinion on Other M warrant an entire thread? Why not post your opinion in the many other Other M threads?

Looks promising, although I've only seen the trailer so I'm not sure what the premise of this new game is going to be. One thing I will say is they could've come up with a more imaginative sub-title.

All Metroid fanboyitude aside, it doesn't look like that great a game. I'm willing to give it a chance, as I did for Metroid Prime (which I loved but at first did not think it would go over well), but the trailer does not make it look appealing, or at the very least anything special. I'll definitely give it a rental as I do love the series and if they can cram a good bit of lore into the game I'll be pleased, but I really don't like that action-y style of gameplay. I loved the isolation of the previous games, as well as the focus on exploration and that next-power up style of reaching new areas. If that translates as well from first person to third person as it did from 2D to 3D then this could very well be an amazing game. For now, though, I remain wary.

EDIT: Oh, one last thing... "The Other M" is a dumb name.
