Just a quick question: which do you prefer, Minecraft players, single-player or multi-player? And why?

they both are very different, but i admit that sometimes when I make some kickass stuff in SP I weep knowing nobody will ever see it. So yeah MP is good when you have a good server with active admins and no mods(as in gamemods).

I haven't bothered with multiplayer yet.
If you have some friends who also own the game, I definitely recommend it. My only complaint is that it's a pain in the ass to get multi-player running.

None of my friends have the game because they don't like the blocky look.

There's nothing quite like griefing your friends in Minecraft. Oh you're building an underwater dome? Opps, I accidently hit the wall with my mining pick several times.

Wow you really made a nice orchard there. Woooopsies! I accidently set it on fire, my bad bro.

I forced my roomate to make his friend let me onto their server... I love it cause they all rave about the cool and slightly obsessive structures I make :) :) :)

oh, OT: I think I prefer single player, because when things get too tough I can make all the monsters go away with the push of a button.

I'd like to play multi player, but most of the worlds I got permission to join, have 90% of the 'near the spawn point' already built into cozy little towns or fortresses, or something, so I don;t feel like I can contribute, and when I finally find a way out of the town into the open country to build something for myself, I get killed and wind up back in town again!

A Random Spawn point per player would be nice..

And then there are the griefers..

Well this can usually be fixed with a replacement wall, as the water will 'dry up' once its source block is ..blocked.

but this is plain MEAN. One of the problems is that without a 'liquid' system , trees which are growing, (and would be normally difficult to burn) are as flammable as old wood, paper and ..well anything. which is great when you want to clear an area and make the wood more accessable, but sucks if you don't want to.

I haven't tried multi. I added a mod that lets you keep your stuff on you when you die because creepers kept blowing up me and my stuff when I went back for them from dying originally. I don't mind being killed and sent back to spawn, and i wouldn't care about having to go back and get my stuff. But they keep blowing it up. Arrrg.

I was inside my first structure and had just decided to move my chest by breaking the chest and moving it, then picking up all my items.Lo and behold but what do I hear even as I'm starting to pick up the chest, but the sound of eight tiny sizzles ending in boom.

As I had just started playing, I hadn't realized creepers can sense you thru a single layer.

And that began a beautiful relationship between my self and the many, many creepers that decided to drop by and say hi while I was building, moving things, picking up my items spawning from dying trying to get back to where I was and getting ambushed by a bunch(4 or 5 I think) of skeleton archers... and hearing that wonderful sizzle, knowing that at least this time when I spawned again, it would already be dead.

Multiplayer is better because you can coordinate and trade with other players to get what you need for building or survival. Single-player is a good way to get familiar with how the game functions, either in Peaceful or Easy mode. Once you have the basics of crafting down (or you've grown sick of building giant towers for your own personal enjoyment) you can move into Multiplayer.

Meh I'll stick to single player. My creations are like finger paintings from toddlers compared to the crazy stuff people do. But I'd love to just follow this guy around for hours:

Can't you just use fraps or some other recording tool so you can post your awesome achievements(not sarcastic, really) for others to see? Aren't we able to host a server and set the world as read only?

This just makes me cry.

My sister said that she didn't want to sit there watching me play lego..

Also, I prefer SP as I create my own world. Whenever I want to break away, I can go into my own world and relax..
(If a creeper doesn't decide that it wants to do a kamikaze from the top of a mountain that is)

Aye, it's quite sad. Especially since one of my friends is very well-versed in gaming - I wouldn't expect that kind of crap from him.

Escapist has a offical (?) server if you wanted to play on that. Its got land and chest protection and other fancy bells and whistles. check it out here:

Personally I like single player because there is no competition for resources.
