I only lost 1 PS3 so far, due to the disc reader dying on me spontaneously while I was playing Michael Jackson: The Experience. Otherwise it's frozen maybe a total of 3-4 times over extremely spread out periods, which I attributed to random par-for-the-course hardware hiccups. But when the reader wouldn't take games or movies, I had the fucker traded in for a Slim one.

By the way, that involved having me manually format a spare hard drive to back up my profiles and saved games and shit.

Damn dude. I though I took care of my PS3. At your place, it sounds like the PS3 is in heaven. It sucks that you've had such a bad time with both the hardware and the company. I've never had a single problem with my PS3, and my only current dilemma is that I'm literally running out of of memory for all my games (and it's an 80 GB model). So I'm just going to do some research and invest some money into getting a 500 GB hard drive to replace my 80 GB.

I think that if you've spent so much money on repairs, I think it's best to just get a new PS3.
Well, if I can get Sony to give me the repair job, and if the thing actually lasts long enough to be worth it I was going to swap out the drive for a new one (I currently have a 60 gig in it after a friend swapped out his own). Otherwise I'll see if I can get them to give me a discount on a trade-in for a slim.

UPDATE: So I just called Sony using a number I found on the internet and I'm including it here because the guy was an incredible dick (1-650-655-8000). No seriously, I don't mean like "He didn't do what I wanted him to" kind of dick. I mean like he yelled at me for calling Sony. He ended up arguing with me (I say he argued with me, and not that it was mutual because I feel like I didn't say anything that would have triggered it).

His basic attitude was that since they already did a "Gesture of Goodwill" service there was nothing more Sony could do without me paying. I couldn't really get a word in because he kept interrupting me and was very, very rude about the whole thing.

I'll have to figure out something else. I'm definitely sending a complaint to the Better Business Bureau because... damn, this dude was a fucking prick.

I've never had a problem with my Ps3 other than it feezing on Dead Island, Skyrim, and Fallout 3. Although when I exit a game and go to the Ps3s main screen I get this flash of screen tear. anyone else get this or know what it means?

OT: I'd just buy a new one if I were you since I believe a 160 GB slim costs $250 and it'd be much less likely to crap out on you. I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset but at least you don't have an old 360 and the flood of problems that come with it.
